So, yeah. Looks like reaction towards Samsung's scam is stronger than expected. People are calling samsung a thief, scamming company, lol.

I wonder what excuses they will come up this time.

that video just goes to show that gorilla glass 5 doesn't really great tensile strength. an impact like that should not have made it crack so easily.

sadly, GG5 is the glass of choice for just about everyone these days.

Just as I predicted its the SD variant that gets the shovel of UFS 2.0. Samsung has always been under powering the SD variant. What is the reason USA gets SD and not Exynos anyway? I doubt this will affect them anyway cause Samsung has always dumped some sort of inferior component to some market. I remember the GS2/3 had an inferior SOC here in India.

HUAWEI also has the same lottery system. Easiest way to correct this would be to specify the UFS type on the box so that people can check and buy.

Samsung situation is not exactly the same as Huawei 's as the latter used emmc instead of UFC so the differences in write / read were much larger . As the story says it is unlikely that a normal user would notice a difference between ufs 2.0 and 2.1 in normal use.

That being said Samsung shouldn't have claimed ufs 2.1 only that's obviously an incorrect claim or even a mis-sale ( for those aware that Samsung claimed 2.1 and shipped. 2.0 )

In my opinion USA gets SD because of Qualcomm they are probably forcing Samsung to use their chipsets in US

Given the amount they charge for the device I would demand that I get the top components because despite the tiny difference in performance, the principle is wrong. Same with the camera, if one sensor is even 1% better than the other then they have a duty to give you that sensor. The best thing for them is to give different regions the variations so Exynos with 2.1 with Sony sensor in Europe consistently and SD with 2.0 with Samsung sensor in USA for example. Unfortunately, they advertised the S8 having 2.1 so its dishonest to give out ones with 2.0 so some Americans would jump at the chance to sue them over false advertising.

I am so glad we get Exynos variants down here

Agreed with Aussieland, I believe the reason Samsung still bother with using Snapdragon chips is due to contracts in place, I'm sure these were put together many years ago when Samsung were still building the Exynos (then known as the Hummingbird SoC) in low numbers with no modem that supported US LTE bands, so they hastily signed contracts with Qualcomm.

Snapdragon was always better in terms of modem as Qualcomm build everything in-house from CPU, GPU to the Modem, but Exynos has always been better in terms of Media (Video, Gaming etc...) and general usage, Samsung Exynos based phones had HEVC support quite some time before any Snapdragons for example, Exynos also always tends to be A LOT more efficient and run cooler.

Samsung are now in a position where they have to implement the inferior Snapdragon SoCs due to whatever agreement they signed many years ago, such a shame as Samsung have done an incredible job with their recent Exynos chips, the from the 20nm Exynos 5433 found in the Note 4 Exynos, that ran circles around Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 that came out months later.
The 7420 in the S6 range and Note 5 as well as 8890 (S7 range and Note7) and 8895 (S8 range) are home runs, the Exynos S7s and S8s are a leap over Snapdragon based models in performance and Battery Life.

Well done to HTC, seems they have a winner with the U11 camera

That Google Pixel is holding on tight on its position though, hopefully Samsung can top it with the Note 8.

So I guess Dxomark will be an HTC fansite around here now until they award the top position to another phone, can't wait for them Esato Conspiracies to start again.

Wow!

Got to love it when they put all that talk to the test. What happened to all that blabbering by Sony Fanboys in this thread and XZP thread about the XZP having the best Camera, seems it's same old Sony, with the same ol' average effort.

This now makes me fully confident that even in real life the XZP will have poorer Battery Life than the Galaxy S8 to.

Once again it's up to Google and OnePlus to provide a true Galaxy S competitor, the Sony Xperia XZ Premium is just going to be another "tried but failed" like it's predecessors. The day Samsung can match their Samsung ISOCELL production to Galaxy S and Galaxy Note Demand will be a great one, then all Samsung's can be ISOCELL.

Anyway bring on the OnePlus 5 and Google Pixel 2/Pixel XL 2.
