Kurtdean.. I agree with you. The images shouldn't be the same exact sizes but then it would make it too easy to tell which photo is which phone. But it's also why the test is stupid and shouldn't be done in the first place.

Tsepz is here cause atom bomb was tearing up the s8 threads.. they're having a little trolling war.

Xzp is sure winner. Even gsmarena readers chose it over the s8.
I can't wait to get mine. I ordered the clear hard case and hopefully can get the screen protector soon

Just to be fair, for those who would have the device early. Could you please, take a sample of low-light shots similar to the one done by gsmarena. It will be highly appreciated.

It will be interesting to see if the normal range of ISO taken by XZP is really around 800 for those conditions. It is possible that they may have taken the camera with a lot of shakes intentionally.
But I still give them the benefit of thd doubt.

For Tsep, Samsung is great no need to be defensive about that.
I just hate bias reviewers and I am not saying gsmarena is.

Automatic mode = nonsense comparison.
All of them are set differently in this regard.

Here are lowlight shots with manual settings.
Effects pretty much on par with S8...
Sony just uses Auto in a different way.

i don't know what's worse... having to wait 2.5 weeks to get my XZP or knowing that XJ will get it before me and having to contain my jealousy..

In a situation where you have a matter of seconds to capture a photo you should be able to get great results with auto, most photos are taken spur of the moment. The average user will not go adjusting on manual mode for that Facebook picture. Taking detailed shots on auto should be quick and easy, I shouldn't have to use the phone like a photographer uses his DSLR for that awesome photo.

Don't worry moogoo, I'll not post any pics or photos for a few days if you like but just to rub it in that bit more I could have my XZ Premium in as little as 72 hours fingers crossed.

And "the average user" doesn't care sh..t for the quality, nor does he have any means to judge it really.
So you contradict yourself.

So if you want a good result you need to know how to use it or how to make it.

@doministry

Disagree. People who pay good money will expect a certain level of quality. When did a salesman ever have to say you have to use manual mode to get a decent picture? The auto mode is supposed to give good quality images and the manual mode awesome pictures. The auto mode looks so poor, certainly not worthy of the price. It's lazy for Sony not to do so when they are capable of it.

At the end of the day, the GSMArena review took the effort to take high quality manual mode images and they look great but the comparison with the LG and Samsung looks poor in auto mode. There is a night and day difference when there shouldn't be.

And here you are totally wrong.
No amateur consumer will pixel peep or compare photo quality.
What GSMArena is seeing no average consumer will ever notice. Because this comparison is on semi-pro level nobody cares about.
Exept the detail Sony shots are more pleasing, more "rounded" for the eye.
That is what average consumer will see.
