Hands-on review of the Xperia X.
It seems like we might have a new photography champ just around the corner.
The only letdown and a big one, seems to be that it will not be coming with 4k video capabilities at all.

Still need to see full size samples from reviews and not resized images before making any first judgements.
I mentioned back in the X performance thread about the lack of 4k in the white paper in the X performance, so if that would not get 4k recording, doubt the regular X would have it, especially for a midlevel device. There are supposed x performance 4k sample videos on youtube but no definite proof that it's from an X perf, so skeptical myself.

What is puzzling is that that MSM8956 aka SD650 only supports up to 21MP cameras, yet the X sports a 23mp camera. The SD650 does support playback and capture of 4k, so lack of 4k video is not related to the SoC it seems but a decision from sony.
No doubt with sony sending out emails about pre-orders, I feel we may see the X line earlier than summer, perhaps end of may? |

sony should just market their cameras with 23MP sensors as 12MP cameras so people wouldn't expect anything much.
they still haven't mastered good noise reduction and detail preservation. their 23MP photos would look better when downsized to 12MP photos. also, that way hater "review" sites will be forced to just use 12 MP as the max resolution. that way they can't conveniently switch to a higher resolution to make sony's images appear less detailed when compared to the competition. the newest iphones and galaxies use that max resolution anyway. |
