i usually don't post concept design in rumor threads, but that concept of a X Premium really looks ugly so I photoshopped it a bit. Looks way nicer now.

Too wide for my taste. It looks like a lady trying to be sexy.
@black zeros, I'm sure sony is capable of being in the forefront of innovation. They have proved that many times (especially tech outside the smartphone realm) but then for some internal issues I supposed they can't seem to pull their shit together.
For the oled, it is very much easy to purchase it outside their own production but I guess it is their policy to support their own products (JDI).
As for the camera, 1/2.0 in thin smartphones today would be a technological feat if they would be able to fit them unless Sony has some tech they had been developing to make sensors larger.
As for the iris recognition, that would make this phone very much expensive and I think Sony doesn't want that but I thinking back on it, it's risky to sell a premium smartphone because its hardware are too expensive that in the long-run, depreciating its value would mean a loss for the company.
I guess that is the reason why Sony is being cheap nowadays. They are very much unlike Apple right now. They don't enjoy the privelege of low rate of depreciation.

well, I have not seen much attempt from Sony to reduce depreciation of their smartphones
on the other hand, we see very strong effort from Apple convincing people about it. despite most of the people having to replace their Apple smartphones every 1-4 years |

https://youtu.be/lMM0apomQxI xperia x battery is better than galaxy s7 edge battery? Wow. Crazy performance with midrange processor, crazy battery life with a small battery. Wow Sony really did a great job! Kudos to Sony

in the S7 comparison video, it looks like the screen refreshing flickering is very obvious on S7 and looks dimmer as well |

maybe , there's a rumor about 5.2 inch 3gb+ sd820 sony flagship phone, though it could be x performance itself.
even though gsmarena said it's 21 mp , it's actually 22.7 mp and has same pixel count as xperia x has.
gfxbench isnt good with screen sizes , but all of 5.2 inch sony flagship (z4-z3-z2)have 5.1 screen @gfxbench.
so it's more likely 5.2 inch phone....

Asus ZenFone 3 Ultra And ZenFone 3 Deluxe are the first smartphones in the world to use the new EXMOR RS IMX318 image sensor, ie, Sony failing again, what a shame |

How are they failing? They're making $$$ for every ZenFone sold.
They can have any number of new advanced imaging sensors in the pipeline for their own products and we wouldn't know.
For the moment tho, their smartphone fabs have been damaged by an earthquake which is beyond their control. Can't really do anything about that. |
