New asus phone has 23MP camera.if the sensor is sony made it means Sony is prepering a new Exclusive sensor
I hope Sony restrains itself on the megapixel count with the next sensor. 25MP is a bit much.

SD820 support camera with up to 26 MP for a single camera. So I don't think it will be there will be a 32 MP camera for this generation. Maybe next time with SD830 |

You are wrong buddy. For rear camera it support upto 25 mp ( I was wrong about 26 mp ) or two 13 mp ( dual camera setup)
I think using the same sensor used in flagship Z5 in the mid-high Xperia X is a indication that for the next flagship Sony is ready to move on to next generation camera sensor. I think it will be even advance than IMX377. Personally I'll be happy to have
(1) 1/2.4 type RGBW sensor with
(2) 1.0 um pixel with advanced built in NR ( Sony has demonstrated that with their advanced processing and excellent fabrication tech its possible to achieve equivalent SNR performance of 1.55um
(3) C-PHY interface for their sensor ( C- PHY provides x1.7 high-speed and x0.55 low power consumption than their current flagship sensor )
It would be disaster if they use the same sensor used in Z5 for their next flagship phone. I know LG and HTC both used last year sensor but Now more than ever Sony need to use the latest and greatest.

hoping that's why Sony delayed flagship to 2H in conjunction with the possible newer SD |

Huawei's Dual 12mp camera is not 24 megapixel capture......
Sony's future phone maybe dual 25+12mp camera with daylight shot 25mp capture and night shot 12mp...........

There's a report I saw yesterday that Apple might go to LG for their upcoming dual camera phone, as Sony might not be able supply these in time duo to yield and negative impact of the latest earthquake...

lg product camera sensors ? i dont know about that.
qc spectra isp support 25 mp @30 fps with zero shutter lag...
i think it can handle 30+ mp photos, probably about processing power...
sd 650 isp support up to 21 mp , but xperia x has 25 mp sensor and capture 23mp photos....
new imx 318(22,56 mp) shipment would begin @may...
with current size of sensor(1/2.3) and 1,0 um pixels 30+ mp is possible but i'm doubtfull about sony will change the sensor. |

LG doesn't produce any camera sensor. But LG innotake does supply camera module-
this is what a camera module looks like- http://www.suyin-europe.com/w[....]11/Optronics_Solutions_CCM.png
And this is what a sensor looks like -http://keyassets.timeincuk.net/inspirewp/live/wp-content/uploads/sites/13/2013/06/sony_sensors_600.jpg
Sony will produce the sensor and Sony and LG innotake will supply the camera module.

Yeah, you are right about Snapdragon's camera capabilities.
If they use the same sensor then I'll ditch xperia and buy the next nexus unless nexus also use last year IMX377. |

What I needed more from a snapdragon SoC, is faster (eg. slower) slow-motion video
Even the latest 820 is still like two gen. before maxis at 720@240 and 1080@120... even MediaTek has one with twice as fast ( 720@480 )...
current SoC are supposed to be capable of such speeds, as they already can handle 4K@60... and 4K it self is Quad 1080, so in theory it can handle 1080@240... and 1080 is 2.25 times 720... so at 720 we can expect 480 up to 540...
But I didn't put into account other variables like sensor, overhead, interface, etc...
But even with these, the MediaTek SoC, was demonistrated with 720@480 with a specific Sony sensor... and even iPhone had the same speed starting from iPhone 6
