Personally I feel I use video maybe 10% of the time, probably more like 5%, the rest is just photos. I know sony loves to mention how great digital stabilization is for video and that is all well and good but in all honesty I'd rather see optical stabilization for photos since I use that function more often.

Sony is not spending too much on smartphones these days. I get it that you want a solid camera from Sony but you should see it as a whole. Apart from the blowing up I think this year Note 7 is clearly the winner. But am really curious how XZ performs. Those things you said may be addressed since software optimisation is much easier. Have a good one.

5 axis stabilisation. What are you talking about? In 2016 iphone 7 did not introduce fast charging. It is an epic, epic fail.

Galaxy S7, Note 7, Xperia XZ, HTC 10, LG G5... all these does not support 480fps slow mo video... epic fail...

You know, any feature is somehow a personal thing.. for me a fast charging is a plus. but I prefer 480fps slo-mo over it... and sadly Android having 480fps video is short of less than one hand's fingers.. from major makers.. none have it.. all those latest flagship non have support for 480fps, while iPhone had it long time ago... IIRC only Meizu MX5 support it along with unknown Chinese brands...

From all flagship SoC, Qualcomm doesn't have any SoC that support 480fps, while from a processing horse power perspective 810 & 820 should support it ( they support 4K at 60fps, which if we calculate pixels count can be also 1080p @480fps )... and guess what, Android long supported 4K recording and iPhone is some how a new comer ( specially with 4K@60 ) but no body complaining...

Sharp is not a known player worldwide ( sort of Japan only ), they had a phone in 2015 that can do 1080@120fps, but with some software magic, it can interpolate frames for having 1080@1200fps... and 480@2100fps... so what option we have ?

Actually the iPhone 6S introduced fast charging. You get it if you have the iPad charger and it'll rapidly charge the device: you see this with the iPhone 6S/6/5S models inclusive. Apple did not "officially" announce it and never needed to, they've presumed their users used ALL the units in their ecosystem.

Sony CEO: We can still innovate with 'wacky' products

I've always said that we are not looking to be number one or number two in this generation of smartphone product, but we need to be in the business of smartphones and personal communication so that when the next paradigm shift comes, and hopefully Sony will be the one making that paradigm shift with innovative new technologies and products, we continue to be a player, so that we can have the chance to become the leadership in the next generation of communication devices," Hirai told CNBC

I really don't see any point in continuing the 2016 thread since there are no interesting (or maybe even any) Sony phones in the pipeline for the rest of this year.

Somebody should open 2017 thread and that could reinvigorate the discussion and provide some rumors.
