Hi there, I've just finished upgrading my s6 to Android 6.01 Marshmallow. It was a big update, around 1200 something MB... took me more than 5 min to download it via wifi.

Been playing with the camera.... and here's what I noticed so far:

- you can now access the camera and phone from the lock screen.
- it now has a "save image as RAW" mode! But the phone will only show the JPG... you need either a Viewer app to view it on the phone, or you can save it to your PC and view it there. (.DNG)
- the HDR mode has 'deeper' hues.. easily seen on the screen before you take the shot.
- it is now a little faster to focus. And the graphic shown when the camera is "in focus" has been changed from a circle to 2 circles. I think this is more noticed when taking videos... it shifts faster from one object to another.
- you can now adjust the shutter speed! Awesome! You can set the camera to take pics at a maximum of 1/24000... like to capture fast moving objects or sports. On the other end of the spectrum - you can set it to take pics at a very slow speed of 1 second. Which is great for panning shots (for that instant blur) or to use for night or low-light shots. Especially useful in situations where a flash is useless... like for example, a cityscape shot.
- you can now also adjust the ISO rating! It goes from Auto ISO to ISO 800. That's not exactly DSLR territory yet but its good enough to match the ISO in most point-n-shoot cameras.
- one of the most welcome additions is that... you can now adjust the white balance manually! Sure, the auto and preset modes are still there, but now there's a C mode (C for custom) at the top of the slider. It gives you, more or less, total control over the color tone of the shot! You can set it to bluer or "cooler" shades... or reddish or "warmer" shades, awesome!
- next is the addition of 'voice control' to the shutter. Just say "shoot" and it takes the picture for you. But I think this needs to be refined more. If you're in a very noisy place (like in a subway station) it sometimes does not shoot.

I'll play with marshmallow a bit more to see what else is new... but from a camera standpoint, these new additions rock!! Overall, they improve both the camera experience of the owner (by giving more control) and the capabilities of the camera itself.

Nice move Samsung! You just turned a good camera into a great one!

cheers!

That's so funny! I like how the author compensates (and admits it) for the loss of detail by getting closer to the subject..... and then calls it "even" and "there's no loss of detail" in the S7.

Also, he only shows ONE aspect of photography, where the megapixel can be leveled to certain degree. (by moving the camera closer). I wonder what he'll say when asked about other aspects of photography? Like in taking MACRO shots, where you can only move closer to a certain extent, before you hit the 'minimum focusing distance' barrier. Also, how would he compensate for the loss of pixel density when the photo is cropped?

cheers!
