@JohnnyNr.5 IFA starts the 1st week of September (back end of Q3) so I'd imagine the Z4 will be announced then with a release a few weeks later ie the beginning of Q4. This is what I've been told. There will be a massive ad campaign with the launch of the new "Bond Phone". The movie will have massive press as to be expected and this will only reflect great for the Z4 it also is great timing for those early adoptors who'll be coming to an end of the Z1 contracts and the run upto Xmas will have a big factor as well.
I'm so happy 'cause today
I've found my friends ...

The Z4 will arrive in Q3 right along side the new James Bond movie tying the 2 together just like the Xperia T a few years back with Skyfall.

Skyfall was released in early november, the xperia T came out much earlier, September, with announcement earlier. This would/should be the same for the Z4 if it is tied into the movie as well, so movie comes out in november but the Z4 is announced in September at IFA.

Fellow, i think that your source is most likely referring to the "bigger update" flag that will be announced most likely at ifa and launched in october, otherwise he would contradict all other sources and make himself less reliable. all of them saying: smaller update-may/june launch. bigger update-october launch.

HTC, Smsung already updated their flagships in March

Huawei and LG will be update as soon as April - May timeframe

Xiaomi would sometime in July

Nexus 2015 early candidates reveal as Huawei and LG

If Sony to update Z4 in September with SD810 and one year policy
I'm afraid that kinda too late for product and film hype gathering
I would preferred mid May timeframe with first official new 007 film promo instead.

What's about China biggest tech event where the Z Ultra introduce, and save IFA for the Compact one?

Is it possible that 820 will be ready by that time knowing that it will be sampled in 2H15 ?

Tegra x1 should be ready right? Are they using soft modem too? if that is the case then Im not sure if that would be a good idea.

http://www.xperiablog.net/201[....]yearly-flagship-release-cycle/

So it seems no yearly flagship cycle, which is fine by me. I do feel Sony would do best and focus more on software now, preferably the camera software.

I just wish the Z4 tablet would have come with nVidia X1 instead.
Even a scaled down version would smoke the s810 in all GPU tests.
As it is right now, the Tegra X1 is in a league of its own when graphics power matters.

We should definitely expect the smaller update flag to pack s810 and at least 3 gb of ram. remember it has already visited fcc (E6xxx), benchmarks with s810 and 3 gb of ram and the spec was already leaked by hiyu and miku'. s810 and 3 gb of ram should not put it under the definition of a big update. it is relatively speaking. remember imx230, s820, possible new design, wireless charging, more durable glass, audio chip, usb type c, etc. even if the ifa flag keep s810 there are still many features that can be added to further differentiate and put it under the definition of a bigger upgrade.

2 "flagship" devices within 4 month doesn't sound convenient. I don't believe that Sony has developed an aversion to profits which is what such a stupid timeframe suggests. We know it takes Sony at least a month from announcement to release, leading to a June/July availability of the "refreshed Z3" assuming it will be showcased sometime during May. Announcing the Z4 (bigger update) at IFA (September) would mean a 10-12 week sale period for the "Z3s". Sure there will be still people buying the older model, but the majority will go for the new updated one especially if it's a bigger update. I'm leaning towards the speculation of a May announcement of Z4 while the Compact along with an Ultra model and tablet will be announced at IFA and pushing Z5 to CES 2016 with SD820 and a new sensor.

They've obviously come around to the way of thinking that they'll launch their devices in a time frame that suits them and not at each major event that takes place.

Good to learn that the Z3 series is doing well, the Z1 / Z3 Compact was obviously a smart move by them.

Sony Xperia Z4 chassis leaked. No microSD slot?! No flap for microUSB

@JohnnyNr.5
There are 2 possible options:
a. The hole at the top left side that is missing a flap (or flapless if that is even possible) for the sim slot houses a second slot for the micro sd.
b. sony ditched sd slot and went for 32/64/128 gb internal storage variants.
i'm ok with either option as long as a 128gb will be available worldwide.

regarding the usb slot, notice that they are not aware of the leaks that informed of exposed waterproof usb port. it's kind of funny that they were not informed of that as they got a hold of a z4 chassis.
anyway, z4 metal frame look more premium - shinier and thinner. sony knows how to evolve design. i like that.

Indeed, no sd slot, maybe it is integrated with the sim card slot since the micro usb has been moved outside the flap and they can combine those 2, would be a tight fit but perhaps no more sd card support? Unless it got moved elsewhere on the body which is not pictured? Also appears that the method of opening the flap has changed from the the side to the edge of the flap.
