Hi Miss UK,
Do you want to take the low-light pics with or without flash, as animals generally don't like flash?

Most of the times, the 930 performs very good in low light without flash, but for fast moving objects, like kids and animals, it's usually better, to use flash, hence my question. Of course, the Xenon flash of the 1020 is better than a LED flash, but for daily use, I'd prefer the 930 over the 1020, the 1020 is showing its age here, the 930 is way faster.

The Microsoft Lumia 640XL is considerably larger, alsmost as big as the Lumia 1520 (my husband's, excellent device, love it, but too large for me), have you tried it in real life already? Considering the fact, that the 640XL is budget class, it surely punches above it's weight with the camera, which is very good, better than the one in the 'normal' 640.
Comparing it to the 930, you should keep in mind, that the 640 series are in another price range, camera, screen, speed, memory (32GB, 2B RAM), they're all better in the 930, still, considering the price difference, the 640XL is surprisingly good.

It's a pity the Nokia Lumia 830 is end-of-life (only a few shops still have some stock here in NL), it was a very nice compromise between budget and high-end, with an excellent 10MP camera. In low-light situations without flash, it sometimes even performed better, than the 930.

Do you still have an iPhone, if so, which model? My 'work-phone' is a 5s, in comparison, the 640XL will be VERY large then

Hi Marley,

I'd like to take both.. the light doesn't bother my little ones as I don't really capture them
alot once a week maybe

I think ive got some homework to do on these lumia Phones the 640XL is in my budget whereas the 930 is more
I do like the overall look more on the 640XL though its curvy and has that nice array of coloured cover and headphones that come with it, I had a look at the older model which looks like a old fashioned iPod now the camera is rather good on it but the device itself is now sporting old tech under the hood!

I think im just going to go to a phoneshop and check the 640XL and 930 out I think the phones are great its just the camera I want to be able to get great shots (just like the iPhone was capable of)

I still have my iPhone 5 however I ran into bother with it, the headphones snapped in the port resulting a part of the jack stuck in there and we've been unable to remove it even Apple had a go and failed!

my partner is attempting to try and fix it for me so it will be a win or fail who knows lol

fingers crossed he can fix it but then theres iOS 9 struggles it has been freezing / getting hot too can't win

Ps, the size of new phones isn't going to shrink long gone are 4/4.5 screens i think unless you buy budget ones
,
time to get used to bigger right?

Yes, we'll have to get used to larger phones , sometimes I 'borrow' hubby's Lumia 1520, it sure is huge, but pictures and videos look stunning on that gorgeous 6" screen

The screens of the 640XL (and the new 950XL) are a little smaller, 5.7".
Maybe the price of the Lumia 930 will drop, when the new flagships 950 and 950XL arrive in the shops.

That looks rather nice in red I did win a red back cover
On ebay for my 520 for 32p lol 😁

Using the Lumia the past week or so has been a nice difference
I like the fact that lumias sport more under the hood as well as don't cost
Loads and there's many more to choose from!

I get my iphone back later my partner was successful at fixing it but I intend in sending
To apple next as was getting hot and freezing up ios 9 don't agree with it LOL

A back cover for 37p? That's cheap
The 520 is a very capable phone, for its price, and so are the 640's, running smoothly on 'older' hardware. Though it wouldn't be fair, to compare them to flagship models, but they don't feel 'budget' in daily use either.

As the picture of my husband's 1520 was a little off-topic , here's my 930
It's very bright, almost neon, Ive always liked the choice in colours you have with the Lumias, pity, the 950 and 950XL will come in black and white only, apparently.

Lol, true, it's VERY green, would've preferred the yellow and/or 'lipstick' red of our 920 and 1520, tbh, but those weren't available for the Lumia 930.

Yeah got the cover cheap on eBay the 520 is a few years old hence the cheap accessories
still its a nice cheap phone it handles stuff really well an its made me wanna say "Move on iPhone"
for now anyway

I think I will try and get the 930 I do like the orange one however the back plates come of it so
could get the green or white back for it if im bored aswell!

the new Lumia's are availbale next month do microsoft drop the prices on the other handsets when the newer ones arrive? the 930 is £299.99 currently i could do with getting it cheaper or I will have to get a used one my budget is £150 lol the 640XL is in that budget right now but I do like the silver bezel middle on the 930

will keep u upto date if I manage to get one over the next few weeks have to sell the iPhone first

I know the backplate can be changed on the Lumia 930, a bit expensive in my opinion, is about £19.99. Mine is Jet Black, currently running Windows 10.

For the nights out, I use my 1020. It is much better with that flash although the new phones have much better improved 1.9fs camera, so wonder how good night photos will be.

They have covers on ebay for £10 for it I think there genuine
Although cant be sure to much fakes on there nowadays!

I managed to secure me a 930 of my own in orange anyway
So iphone be gone soon!

930 doesn't have headphones included do Microsoft have them
Separately to buy id like a pair to match the Phone!

The camera will be tested when I get round to it 😊

Congrats! Enjoy your 930!

Yes, unfortunately, there are no headsets included with the newer Lumias, and afaik, only these are available in orange in the Microsoft store : http://www.microsoftstore.com[....]rt-Headset/productID.315895600

Other models are black.

Hi Marley,

Yes its a nice looking phone in quite ok condition
Just a few light scratches to it on the screen was
Thinking about testing displex on those but the reviews
Are rather mixed so might just leave it how it is!

The phone works great but I've noticed it has that annoying
Screen flicker that everyone is complaining about does yours do it?

Those headphones would be great if they had the volume control darn!

Anyway hope your ok 😊
