Still a nice hands on
@milukugiuniu
Do you have other info? Some links? It could be bad...:/ but only in china?
It could be a software related problem? Maybe something big related to security?

Bad news!
The Z2 has been pulled off from the shelve in China. Moreover, the Z2 announcement which is going to be held in HK next Wed. has been cancled. There must be something happened with Z2.
Do update if u get any new info on this |

Daughter: "Hey mum, TV's broken. We need a new one."
Son: "Mum! I need a new phone! My Z1 is already 6 months old and I feel Sony is cheating me because they have a new flagship and my phone will no longer be a priority!"
Mum: "But we don't have money for both! I'll get us the TV because your brother just bought 10 phones last year I'm pretty sure he still has a spare."
Son: "I can't take this! This is over! I'll get off this house because I need to get on with my life and stay off here. This is just another place I used to enjoy but I... "
Vodafone: *appears out of nowhere* "Worry not, for we have the solution! Buy a Z2 now and you'll get a 32" Bravia TV ABSOLUTELY FREE!"
Mum: "HOW THE HELL DID YOU GET IN HERE?!?!?!?"

@ItsJustJOH
Seems like the beginning of a random porno movie... I already imagine the title "Spoiled Son, Generous Morher"

looks like the bezel-for-waterproofing argument has become invalid with this sharp smartphone. even if you move the display a tad lower to balance the top and bottom bezel sizes, it still has less bezels than any other smartphone available now.
it's rated IPX5 / IPX7.
i hope sony can design the next xperia z this way. i really don't mind going 10mm thick. it's not relaly that thick.
sony and sharp should just merge

Basically, There's two versions of MSM8974AB, and both are running at 2.3GHz
but one is 800 (v2) and the second is 801 (v3)
the differences between them are :-
1- GPU clock in 801 is 578MHz, which is 28Mhz higher than 800 (55MHz)
2- the ISP ( Image Signal Processor ) is faster in 801, 465MHz compared to 320MHz...
3- the 801 support eMMC v5 compared to eMMC v4.5 in 800, this allows faster eMMC access IF there's a supporting eMMC there, like the new iNAND Extreme from SanDisk which promises 300MB/s compared to maximum of 200MB/s in eMMC v4.5... but again, we only benefit from this IF we have a supporting eMMC and these things are new now...
4- The DSDA is out there for 801, the 800 does not support it.. it's not related in any way to Z2 but if some are wondering what is DSDA, then it's Dual SIM - Dual Active, meaning it can support two SIM cards in the same time, while both are active in the same time ( no need to switch between them to enable any one )
So, Qualcomm confirmed that it's 801 in the Z2, so we have the v3 of MSM8974AB with that 28MHz extra GPU clock, plus these extra additions like higher ISP clocks, eMMC v5 & the DSDA...
personally I feel that Z2 does not use eMMC 5 NANAD there, and there's no Dual SIM version of it, so I guess we only have that 28MHz higher GPU clock and the faster ISP which might not be that much of a change from a user perspective...
But as a fan of Sony Mobile, I love it.. why ? because Sony is going more for the high-end and the latest... but why they didn't go for AC bin ? well it might be power, heat, costs, yields issues we don't know.. but I don't think thos 200MHz will actually be a bummer for performance knowing how Sony is doing well with it's optimisations and software...
or maybe Samsung needed those extra 200MHz to handle it's TouchWiz laziness

Very very bad news. Only a small quantity of Z2 would be supplied to the global market till may.
Sorry I dont know the reason and details. |
