For those who might be concerned about that 128GB microSD

I've tested in the Note 3, the Xperia Z1s, the Xperia Ultra and the Tegra Note 7 and had no issues other than KitKat "issues."

I think it means telecoil, it's for hearing aids.

I can confirm that sony will not give us, tap to wake, and 4k video and other stuff from the Z2 in the NEXT update.
Now i don't know if they will give it in a future update, because my reference guy didn't say that we will not get it definitely.

I'm disappointed a bit, i really want the tap to wake thing, the other stuff are not important for me, just that little function, because the little power button on the z1 gets on my nerves.

as for the unofficial ports for now, all the camera stuff except for 4K video and time shift, works on the Z1.
Time shift is semi-working, while you can do everything, the video are recorded at 30fps, and the dev is having a hard timing adjusting it. they are snooby a bit at XDA, so i have no further info.

as for the KITKAT update that should have been rolling in this week, rumors says that it will be delayed because of a major bug, that will boot loop your phone if you will update directly from 4.3, so they will be releasing a 4.3 update that will make our phone ready to receive the KK that will follow

Just give me the updated camera algorithm, I don't need anything else, skipping this will suck and will probably make me not consider sony when I get a new phone.

This.

Improvements in camera software are, in my opinion, the most important. Sony should do it right and make the camera better.

i agree.

new camera app/features are appreciated of course. but improving the core image quality is the most important. from what i've seen/read.. Z2's image quality is pretty good and doesn't have the compression artifacts. Hopefully, it's just a matter of time before we get the same algorithms on our Z1

looking at those new samples, definitely new compression method, file size for 20mp jpegs are now 10+ mb, where it used to be 7-8mb on z1

The Kitkat 4.4.2 update for the Z1 was only certified yesterday and today the roll out begins. No complete change log yet Sony will release that soon. http://blogs.sonymobile.com/2[....]eria-z1-and-xperia-z1-compact/

I doubt that Sony will bring the new camera processing to the Z1 as that would hit Z2 sales, same goes for 4k and tap to wake and timeshare video etc.

I think the new camera algorithms will being this update to the Z1 but other features like 4K and Timeshift video will come with future updates similar how Sony updated the Z to get the Z1 camera features but only time will tell
