^ yeah mate me to I would probably sat KitKit roll out will be announced at MWC next week and just like the 4.3 update I would expect it to be a month or so from that announcement before we see it on the Z1. O2 are giving free access to 4G because 2G and 3G is currently overloaded and causing signal issues so they are moving customers with a 4G device to a 4G tariff to free up space on the network and relieve some of the stress to improve signal with our 2G and 3G customers.

Unfortunately moogoo mate I got that album update a couple of weeks ago, so I wouldn't hold my breath for KitKat if I were you

Edit : Bloodyhell wouldn't you know it, I just got another update to the album app to 5.2.0.A.20 I think it was, and again it says "Udates for KitKat" maybe KitKat is just around the corner, let's hope so

Just copied this text below from xperiablog.net and it goes on to say that Vodafone Australia will soon have KitKat for the Xperia Z in for testing which means the update for the Z1 must be very soon as I would probably say the Z1 will get it before the Z just like the 4.3 update.

Maybe thats why we got another update to the album app which again confirmed support for Android 4.4

[b]"Now that the bulk of Android 4.3 firmware updates are out of the way (we’re still to hear news on the update cycle for the Xperia C, L and M), attention will soon turn to the timing of Android KitKat updates. Sony has already confirmed a selection of handsets to receive the update including the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 (the Xperia Z1 Compact is also likely to receive it too).

Therefore the timing is probably about right to see Android 4.4 KitKat firmware being tested by carriers. Vodafone Australia has confirmed that testing is scheduled for the Xperia Z KitKat update. However, we still have no further timelines for now. We would expect Sony to formally announce KitKat timings within the next few weeks, so we’ll keep you posted."

@del the only case I know of that fits the dock it the one for the QX10/QX100 smartlens I use this case with the dock it fits spot on. the case isn't the most slim line one and does add bulk but it does work a treat and is good quality. Here is link to one on amazon.co.uk you can see at the bottom of the circle (were the camera attaches) there is a flat edge which allows it to sit in the dock with out any hassle.

ok.

so maybe this has been there awhile and i just found it. in which case, just ignore me. ha.

but i just realized the Z1 has a one-handed keyboard feature, much like ZU!

makes it a lot easier to text one handed instead of having to reach across the screen and try not to drop the phone at the same time.

so is this new or old? i was too lazy to look at the manual.

@moogoo what's the one handed text input? Is it the t9 keyboard?

Its few months old. I think in the second or third update.

@gitaroo,

Go to settings, then select one handed keyboard. Its not available with the first firmware if you havent updated. I would suggest you guys to try out swift key. It also has compact mode and its way better than xperia keyboard.

@del - one handed keyboard is full qwerty keyboard but squished to one side or the other.

@djin - i actually used swiftkey in the past and loved it. but haven't installed it since getting my Z1. and now i'm used to the xperia keyboard and too lazy to switch again
