@ninja - you're kidding right? Z was $650 when it was finally available.. and that was MONTHS later. with a global launch same month, i'd guess $750ish.. it's at $900USD equivalent in germany and the UK..

i hope you're right though. cause that would be a STEAL. if i lived in europe, i would import it from the states and save so much money.

Calm down, no need to freak out. It should be around $750 for a phone like this. The only reason price are that high in Germany is because of VAT. Currently import price based on clove is around $735 USD.

no global shutter, and no 24/192 audio profile.. interesting. also of note, Hi-Res Audio isnt mentioned in the WPaper.. no h.265 support either.

@moog, i never saw the Z at the price, the most i saw was for $600.. eventually it was $550+ the ZL was even cheaper of course.

no global shutter is disappointing but not a deal breaker.

i'm not too familiar with audio profile/tech so i can't comment.

and if the price is $700 or less.. $500 even.. i'll be beaming with joy.

@my_ninja
Z did launch at $650 in the US, but price dropped below $600 real quick, think it was actually within first week.

it says its not the final firmware, so there's no point judging samples that aren't from the retail device now that it's announced. just give it more time and we'll be sure to see plenty of reviews/hands on with the FINAL device.

I know, but that should be pretty close to final firmware.

Kinda disappointed,

Small sensor.
No OIS.
Also, 16GB... 16GB, Sony!?

Are you sure that pixel binning is like Nokia's PureView? And not just resizing?

You're complaining about sensor size and lack of stabilization, and you don't know what a global shutter is?!?!?!

For an early firmware and mobile-review, these photos are pretty good. Looking forward for a good looking 6400 ISO photo as Sony claimed

Thanks for the link!

That looks pretty good actually, slight overprocessing, grain/strange colours on the faces and aliasing(look at the guy's glasses frame in the below pic) but overall pretty damn good.

@MNX1024, you know, instead of typing all that out, you could've just told me.

GEORGE the pic you linked isn't the right one, but it's still pretty damn impressive. have to remember, you can't compare the photos to a dedicated compact camera or SLR. you have to compare it to other leading android smart phones.

with that in mind, it should and probably will, blow everything away.

Thank you moogoo, corrected.

Yes, it is pretty impressive. I'm interested in comparisons with Galaxy S4 and others. Especially low light.
