Thank you for posting the photos! That daylight shots look very good expect that there is a bit of softness on the left and bottom edge of the frame.. it might be just that particular unit's optics, but its there.

So I decide on callingl my local AT&T store to ask about the 1020 and here is how the conversation basically went....

AT&T- Thank you for calling at&t my name is blabla, how can I help you today?

ME- I was just wondering if you have any information on the new Nokia 1020 yet... specifically what colors you will be getting and if you will have the battery/camera grip accessory on launch day?

AT&T-Nokia 1020??? Do you mean nokia 920?... there is no 1020!

ME- I understand it should be coming out toward the end of this month, its nokia's new 41mp windows camera phone but yes, it is a new phone is called the EOS/1020.

AT&T-There is no 41mp camera phone, I think 8 or 12 is as high as they go, you probably mean the 920, and yes I have them but only in white right now.

ME- Sorry, no offense but you are mistaken, I currently own the nokia 808 pureview which is indeed 41mp but not sold by you. You may want to google Nokia 1020 to bring your self up to date on whats going on.

AT&T- I've worked here for 3 yrs now, I think I would have heard about that if it were coming out.... (turns to co-worker, im guessing and says) Hey, have you heard of the nokia 1020?? ..... Oh, really.... oh, okay.... when?.. ..... .... okay sir, apparently it is coming out but we don't have any info on it yet.

ME- (literally trying my hardest not to laugh).... THANKS, YOU'VE BEEN SOOOO HELPFUL... let me guess, you have an iphone? -- followed by my simply hanging up..

wow... not ever going into that store... what a bunch of boobs!!! lol [addsig]

^ as expected.. professionalism at the highest level at our lovely carrier AT&T

Take a look at these: http://www.flickr.com/photos/[....]%40N00/sets/72157634597356196/

A bit more noise than the 808 in almost all conditions.

Also, by looking at some of the hands on videos, it seems slower to process the image after you take it, and also slower to launch the camera app compared to the 808.

I know it takes a 40+5 mpix shot every time, but.. I hope you can turn that off somehow if you want to speed things up.

where do these networks get these douchebags they hire???
This is why I've got my upgrade guy at my local Vodashop, he is a very rare kind, he actually knows about every phone I ask about, and I always text or call him for deals be it for myself or a family member or friend. I suggest you find someone like that at your local AT&T, makes everything so much easier.

There has to be something else going on here, I can't image them releasing this thing over a year after the 808 with degradation is quality as opposed to improving the output from this sensor... maybe Ill hold off till I start seeing some better samples - although the manual control is quite tempting! Maybe it's pre production software. The nightshot of the city looks better than the ones off GSM Arena. Also wide angle cameras tend to have corner softness anyway. Maybe until the next Windows OS update comes image quality is still a little limited on WP??

I hate to sound old but I think its just kids these days.... I used to work for AT&T as an analyst years ago... although we weren't even in sales, all the people in my office kept up with every phone and devices out and our sales teams knew EVERYTHING!!! I think most sales people now-a-days are just there for the paycheck and "sell" whatever their manager tells them is best during training.... then they just clock out and go home to play with their iPhone having no idea what else is out there (nor do they seem to care)..... It's just a paycheck, no passion for what they do hence the reason I simply hung up... no need to push that conversation any further. I think I'll just order it online! lol

Lets hope so.. the features and OS are quite attractive but I don't really want to sacrifice IQ for OS as I mostly use my phone for pictures.... in that case, Ill just keep the 808. [addsig]

Most 808s out there are sharp from end to end despite the wide angle optics.. I really hope its just that particular prototype.. but even if its not, no big deal.

Sonysta I added your comp post to the front page of the thread. Thank you
