Might be, but at least you'll get the high-end feel because of the powerful Krait cores and the 305.

On screen benchmark results are affected by resolution and in these tests, Xperia L is way ahead. But the interesting part is that in offscreen 1080p benchmarks, xperia L matches xperia T even though the CPU on T is 50% faster than L.
Therefore, it is safe to say that adreno 305 is equal to or slightly more powerful than 225.

Sample video taken from a Xperia L!

Looks very impressive for a low-end phone!

It is in today's standards, or probably within the boundary of the low-end to mid-range segment.

Here's an in-depth preview of the Xperia L and SP in Russian, but there's a lot of photos so you can check out the quality of both's display.

The red looks awesome.

Xperia SP and Xperia L priced in the UK; to launch end April/early May

The entry-level Xperia L has a 1GHz dual-core processor, 4.3-inch FWVGA display and 8MP Exmor RS camera. Handtec came in cheapest again for the Xperia L at £233.39 delivered. However, both Clove and Expansys were close behind at around £240. The Xperia L is expected to launch towards the end of April.

Considering the specifications of Xperia L i would consider to replace my Xperia ray with this phone. Just it's weight and size are quite large. My heaviest phones were the Ericsson T20 (128 g), SE K850 (118 g) and C901 (107 g). My largest phone I've ever had is the Xperia ray (if even it's the thinnest too). So I don't want to go above the K850's weight or at most above 120 g but that's the absolute maximum, and I would think it twice to buy such a "heavy" device. I would'nt go above the size of Xperia ray, but considering nowadays trends I would accept at most a 115-120 mm long phone. But no way longer than 120 mm. I also think that a sreen size above 3,5" max 4" is quite unconfortable to use, especially with one hand. When I watch some episodes of series on my Xperia ray I know that it would be more comfortable on 5", but on 3,3" is still enjoyable, but thinking about also using it, not just watching 4" would be more than enough.

So, yesterday a quite insane idea came of my mind. Probably Sony is not just trying to follow the big screen trend (because other manufacturers have well balanced offers in a compact size too), but they intentionally made the Xperia L such a big and heavy device. And if it's going to be more costly than the Xperia P for example (and that's quite possible) it will be expensive also. Actually Xperia L has all the functions of Xperia Z, even if in lower resolutions or with slight limitations, but in fact it offers nearly the same user experience in terms of functions, expect to be waterproof, and for the half -if not less- the price of Xperia Z. If it would be light and compact, probably many more people would choose the Xperia L, but not in this case. So I think Sony for this reason made more compact only the Xperia E, because it's specifications are low enough for people not to compare overall with other Sony smartphones. If you check Sony Ericsson's 2011 portfolio, almost all the devices had the same functions, which offered nearly the maximum user experince for that time, but customers had the option to choose a smartphone which fits their taste in term of desing and size, and thier budget.

If we look the competitors' phones the mini variants or feature-wise well-balanced models are quite common. And in this field Sony Ericsson was one of the bests with the X10 mini, Xperia mini or Xperia ray. Now only Sony is the boss, and I think they are much afraid of not to cannibalise the sales of the Xperia Z, with the best of the Sony, and because of that they designed such large and heavy their 2013 models (Xperia L and SP) for no reason. Because in a compact size with lightweight, and reasonable (?) price that would be a pro for these models compared to XZ, that many customers would take into consideration, and that could hurt the Xperia Z's sales. I can't see other reasons for Sony not to make a well equipped smartphone in a compact size, because the L and SP are heavy and large.

In a 115 mm, 115 g size the Xperia L would probably replace my Xperia ray, but not with it's current size.
