According to SonyAlphaRumors, Sony will make the fitted cases for the most popular phones so you don't have to deal with the clip.

One of our loyal readers managed to obtain some pictures of the Xperia Z1, which he took after having the opportunity of playing with it. In his own words, he tells us that the screen is "punchy" like the Sony Xperia Z Ultra and that 20.7MP camera is better than the rear shooters on the Apple iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom.
Our source also says that even with the handset running an early version of the firmware, it runs better than the average phone. Lastly, while our tipster says that the Sony Xperia Z1 doesn't look good in press shots, in person it is a different matter.

Yup that's right.... Sony phones doesn't look the awesome look of it in press shots....
BTW: Phonearena is counting down Xperia Z1 announcement for the first time on Phonearena counting down Xperia phone

Is it possible that the unseen phone reported by someone here (sorry, I forgot who said it) with the large camera slot on the back was in fact the phone cover for attaching the external camera? |

Most likely. It would be very unlike Sony to release a sort of NEX-phone.

The secret of reading this thread is working out - who is here that has no interest in Sony - who is here posting complete crap but are letting on they know something, now if you can filter through that then just wait until Tomorrow when Sony again releases some info ahead of IFA - Official info
There are some people on here that just like posting and feeling important and may I add just because someone has 400+ posts doesn't mean they are reliable
The Z1 will be a step up from the Z - go figure, I had my Z stolen I bought and sold a ZU and now will probably buy a Z1 although I don't like buying stuff on a first run from the factory they are usually not as refined as a few weeks of production - I've been a production engineer so I know what I'm on about - better to wait a month or two while they iron out the process |

External lenses looking great! I hope those mounting cases don't interfere with the magnetic charging dock connector at all.
I wonder if the entire mounting case is metal. It actually looks pretty damned nice, and likely provides some added protection for the phone. Almost nice enough to make me want to get it even if I don't get an external lens.
... ah damnit, maybe I will get an external lens, lol. |

Guys, have you noticed how the protective plastic doesn't cover the camera button and the spot we agreed it's too big for SIM!?
Could that hint Xenon as a pop up or a accessory that goes into that suspicious port? Or is it just a volume rocker?
On the other hand, protective plastics goes all the way on Z, protecting pretty much whole of the top side;
