This is nice to have this kind of new choice.
I am not sure it will sell, but it will surely make some noise.

Personally, given the price point, i will probably spend a little more and go for a dslr shaped mirorless, waiting for the rumored sony one to see if it will have vari angle screen, otherwise pana g6 it will be.

I think this is primarilly important for the positioning/media coverage, to sell xperia devices.

And i think samsung may regret to have chosen the same date for the note3 launch...

It helped that I knew what to look for. I was tipped about it on Sunday by my new friend.

Well looky there! Damn those things are beautiful.

Interesting points to notes are the larger lens which is supposedly the RX100 II variant has a control ring around the top so you'll still have a fair bit of manual control. Also the picture of the two lenses side by side, the smaller one has an odd retangular part sticking out of the right side. Either that's a port flap opened, or possibly pop-up flash?

Overall amazing job Sony. If I didn't already have the RX100 I might give some serious consideration to getting one of these. Hell, who knows I still might

I do wonder if this is only the beginning and if we'll eventually see APSC or full frame sensors eventually make their way to these accessories. If so, that might be reason to hold off on these initial units.

Why does this thread suddenly get news when I'm asleep?

Anyway this could be the start of a new trend, just hoping it will be priced right and it's nice to know it can be used on other phones.

So many things to buy: Honami, Add-on lens, Tablet Z 2, PS4... I guess it is a good idea to travel to Hongkong in December and buy everything there. Or is it cheaper anywhere else? What do you think guys?

I hope Sony will do the pricing right this time, just like the PS4
They need to price these 2 lenses lower than the RX100 (much lower) otherwise it might not work

But if they price them too low, they might cannibalize the RX100 Camera as well

I hope it will cost 200 Euro max!!

Knowing Sony's pricing policy I would wonder if it would be below 400-500 euro. I think The Honami + Lens Camera would be more expensive than buying an Xperia Z and RX100. Than the latter pairing makes more sense in my opinion.

Looks like the case on the white phone is metallic to me. Maybe the back of the lens/sensor combo is a strong magnet and the case allows it to mount very securely?

BTW, what do y'all think the "MULTI" thing is on the bottom portion of the smaller lens? Multi interface port? Hotshoe interface? Also what's the round button next to the zoom buttons? Shutter?

Also, I was bored and decided to try and get a rough idea of the dimensions of these external lenses. I used the Xperia Z thickness as a starting point and here're the results:

Of course the devices are a bit bigger as they're not perfectly cylindrical, but it gives you a rough idea at least
