Be aware that eMMC = Embedded (and hence non-replacable) MMC as I understand it.
From Xperia S white paper:
Internal phone storage 1-1.5 GB
Flash memory 32 GB eMMC
From Xperia ION white paper:
Internal phone storage 1-1.5 GB
Flash memory 16 GB eMMC
Expansion slot microSD, upto 32 GB
Not sure what Internal phone storage is used for (perhaps, phone book and such stuff).

The phone is totally brilliant but why these stupid solutions.
Non removable battery is a total letdown!!!!
And what about memory than, I hope those embedded cards will still supporr USB transfer like before.

Get used to it. We will probably see more of this in future from various vendors I guess. Personally i have never had to replace a battery on any phone I have had so far (I'm usually using mine around 5 years on average).

Don't see any reason why they would not support USB transfer. We shall see in due course.

I like this phone, I don't like the name it is not only boring but also doesn't make sense in that the S on the Xperia line is meant to signify an upgrade in specs such as the arc to arc s. In this case it isn't signifying anything; there hasn't been a Sony Ericsson Xperia!
Also with this name I can just imagine the pain of searching anywhere whether it be ebay, google or youtube the words 'sony xperia s' and getting a whole load of results on the xperia arc s! It was the same when trying to look for the xperia mini pro and continually finding the x10 mini pro...
Also this baby is one chunky dude!
Not complaining though because I do think the slim race has become crazy and is hopefully over for now...

I never get Sony they get everything almost right then mess it up with no ungradable memory but no removable battery is no big deal. I would like the thought of having 32 gig memory and sd card upto 64 gig surely that's the future. Not stupid iphone internal memory.

The way to do that is to use the search term: "sony xperia s -arc" and it will not bring up anything with the word 'arc' in the title.

Let the trend be your friend. Non removable items seems to be the future (not the other way around) whether you like it or not.  |

Well that's true, but what if the phone fails. It happened quite a few times with my X10, simple solution to reset, was to remove and put back in battery, it was breaking the power to the phone. How in the world will You do that now? Is there a micro hole that is taking care of resets (You will have to carry a needle in pocket, no big deal...)? Or are Sony stupid enough to not even provide that, then I have no question about future of Sony 
And non-removable battery seems to have (A little bit) of sense when the back cover is not removable (like on iPhone). But if You have to deal with all disadvantages of removable cover, why embed the battery? No idea. Also the phone is BIG, it's not the thinnest, not the smallest. So how in the world they couldn't fit normal battery?

On the old X10 devices, holding down both the power button and the home button simultaneously would do the trick (perform a reset). I'm sure these one have a similar feature. X10 mini had non-removable battery and I haven't seen anyone having any problem that would require remove of the battery. While non-removable battery may be an issue in few cases, for the majority I would guess it is a non-issue.
I guess not having removable parts make it more easy to assemble the device and make it more sturdy (less things to rattle and break).

X10 mini had a key combo to hard reset the phone, in addition to that reset button.
