Hej, Hans, so you've decided to go for the blue one ? 16 gig plus 25 in the cloud should be enough, I suppose

Yes. More as enough.
I'm really looking forward to hold it in my hands

I fully understand that , it looks stunning, not the boring black or silver smartphone for a change.
After using my Trophy for six weeks now, I think it's great : fast and smooth! The 800 will probably have a better camera and better build quality as those always have been strong points of Nokia phones, my Nokia E7 has the best build quality I've ever seen in a phone.
So I'm waiting for a Nokia WP7.5 phone with the keyboard of the E7, that would be an awesome device!

I'm sure they'll make one some day.

I'm loving the white Lumia 710's, how i wished 800 has white version as well. Dual core android users will surely bash the single core CPU on this but the general performance is perfectly fluid, also the home button reacts in a blink of an eye.

At 710 all fronts are white so just don't turn it around. For 800, who knows. There is a N9 in white coming.

The Lumia 800 is just the very first step!
Nokia had 7 months only to work with MS and develop for WP!! They can't do wonders after all..
It's clear though that Nokia aren't in for specs wars! They want to introduce something different. They're focusing on differentiating factors.. They want the people to view them as unique as possible, not just another OEM in the smartphone arena..
2012 will be the year Nokia re-enters the competition at all levels, from the the highest-end to its lowest..
As Elop hinted again in a recent interview to elements brought from the N9's UX and Qt environment over to the Lumia family, one could expect some UI customisations coming their way, as well as some introducing some tech like NFC, and more significant apps and integration (Skype comes to mind), as well as another camera revolution after the N8!
Nokia have been hinting for a while now for such a camera upgrade by saying that what's introduced in the N8 and N9 are just a portion of what they have in their labs..
It's a start of a new era at Nokia. What they're heading to, or at least would like to achieve is make the world talk about the iPhone, Android, and Lumia. Will they succeed in that? We shall see..
With the Lumia 800, they did manage to introduce something different.. But there are still big steps ahead, and a long way to go.. |

But there will be more than this obviously. The only thing that is strange is that they did not start off with a big flagship top smartphone like 4.3 inch screen etc, etc..... The camera is decent on this model as shots show but that alone is no longer enough these days just having a great camera.

Not everybody wants such a large phone, I don't want the screen of my phones to be more than 4 inch, but when I really would want something larger, 4.3 wouldn't be much of a difference, I'd buy a tablet instead and keep my 4 inch phone.

Agreed. 3.7" is enough for me.
If Nokia would start with big and fast there could be no upgrade.
