Yes, isn't it ridicolous? I really hope that some hacking groups will take action and strike Apple with all the force. Enough of Apple bullsh*t. |

So Apple holds the patent for the screen to screen swiping technique and scrolling through a gallery using your finger?
Seems like it yes.
So hopefully after the fix Apple will leave Samsung alone?

I doubt it. It looks like they will be gunning for others through the courts.
It will be interesting to see what workarounds they come up with.

Ok, a patent has nothing to do with who invented something FIRST. It's who files for legal ownership FIRST.
Most people don't know, that in the tech industry... most companies do NOT patent their inventions. Intel and Google have far fewer patents that people think... despite having invented a lot of technologies.
The reason behind this is simple... when you patent something, you must show proof of concept. A working prototype and the method by which your product works. In other words, you must show how your magic trick works.
If a patent is all that was needed to keep corporate secrets safe, then the world would be a better place.
Coke doesn't have a patent on it's secret formula. It doesn't trust the patent office. And rightfully so. If it did, it would be spending more money chasing down copycats and shutting down illegal factories.
Intel and Google do not patent their tech because it's safer to just keep them secret.
Apple knows how to play their strengths... If no one has a patent on something that's already out there... they can patent it. Then claim royalties.
***Patents also have a lifespan, usually 15 years AFAIK... This is why most Japanese cars use German technology 15 years after they were first introduced by Porsche, Benz, BMW, etc. Benz made the exception when they patented crumple zones and a few more safety tech which they granted free use of to improve over-all car safety around the world. Motorola held the patent for the active flip phone which is why no other phones at the time were active flips. Only after the patent expired was able to use it for their T28***

Apple claimed at least 3 things:
-Samsung copied the design of iProducts
-The slide to unlock infringe one of their patents
-The picture gallery application infringe one of their patents

Samsung redesigns Galaxy Tab after Apple's sales ban (BBC article)
Samsung has redesigned one of its tablet computers after a court banned sales in Germany in September.
The injunction followed Apple's complaint that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 looked too much like the EU-registered design of its iPad tablet.
The South Korean firm says its revised Galaxy Tab 10.1N will go on sale later this month.
The firm has changed the design of the metal frame and moved the device's speakers.
