Well, stop your doubting - it is faster. The CPU is faster and the OS is faster. Something as simple as adding an application shortcut is much, much faster on the Arc. Whereas you have to wait for the list of apps to load on the DHD, the Arc is just instantly showing the list. Lots of these small changes.
No doubt arc is faster, but the cpu of both desire hd and arc is same. The only difference is arc is using ginger bread, and desire hd is using froyo. Once it gets updated to ginger bread, then we can actually compare.
And smoother operations doesnt mean better cpu, x10 lagged alot on 1.6 and worked much better on 2.1.. doesnt mean the hardware was upgraded!
Anyways i like arc, and might go for it(or xperia play), but i doubt how they will support it, because the support of x10 was very dissapointing..

The Arc isn't faster than the DHD in that video either, the Arc certainly won't be faster than the DHD on boot up as the Arc doesn't have any Fastboot features as the DHD does.
The DHD can already be made even quicker than it is through modding with different ROMS/radios for even better performance as shown on xda so don't have to wait for a Gingerbread update but Gingerbread and Gingerbread on 2 devices would be a true comparison.
Something else I didn't like about the X10 compared to the DHD was the X10 feels so cheap in your hand compared to the solidly built aluminium DHD, the X10's screen is cheap plastic crap as well. I think the Arc would be much better if they actually used quality materials rather than plastic which is just tacky.

I think I will prefer the plastic casing as it shaves off about 20g off the phone. I think the X10 is a little bit on the heavy side so the lighter casing should do the trick. |

The amount of people I've seen using iPhones with cracked screens is slightly alarming and there are plenty of searches for cracked desire HD screens on google already.
The screen on the X10 I have has not one mark on it after I removed the screen protector months ago, so I guess each type has its advantages and disadvantages.

That's not true, they both have the same chipset, Qualcomm MSM8255 1 GHz Snapdragon with Adreno 205, the only difference between both is that the ARC has 320MB of internal memory and 512MB RAM instead of 1.5 GB and 768 MB RAM of the Desire HD.

True, i think heavier and stronger unibody cases make phones harder to break their case but it seems the force going through the phone goes directly to the screen, being easily cracked even with gorilla glass.
With plastic cases i've seen the backcover jumping out but nothing more. |

I think I'd like to have a mineral glass screen but the fragility of it would definitely be more of a worry. This guy got a quote of $335 just for the desire screen.

I'm scared of snapping it half like a twig without something like that to protect it. May be a metal frame on phones this thin isn't such a bad idea.

I thought people say that SE is not good at software. But why nobody can unlock the X10 ? It seems they are good in software coding and able to lock all the loop holes.
Nice video and the arc is very fast. Good to see no lagging in the video. Perhaps with fully loaded apps, the response will be different. |

Wouldn't mind seeing this in the Arc's successor
Sony's new 17.7 mega pixel camera sensor, designed specifically for mobile phones and it can shoot full resolution 120fps video.
Put that in a nice Aluminium uni body phone, label it up 17.7mp camera phone with full 1080p video recording, a nice dual core processor to give it some real performance for all that processing and then we're talking.

A: No – in preparing for the launch of our phones we have frequent releases of new internal test software and there are also different hardware revisions on the way up until launch. Lots of optimization is done late in the process and the release version will be optimized in many aspects.
So it doesn`t looks like the final version IMO. |
