Depends on what feature you are looking for, Camera mainly, Elm is way better than w995. Sounds and display the w995 is better than Elm, might I suggest Hazel? same 2.6 screen size and vibrant display as the w995 and has the same camera as the Elm, the only downside though is the bad LED flash If I were to choose between the two I pick Elm but that's just me

995 more natural colors?
Now you're kidding,right?
The abundance of purple fringing and the smeared details is a BIG disadvantage...
The yellow nuance can be tamed using WB settings,AFAIK.
The poor module camera on 995 not.
Of course,i'm talking about the camera only.
The over(not at)all,yes,the walkman is better.

I definitely not agree here.....

w995 photo section....
http://www.esato.com/phonepho[....]make=Sony+Ericsson&model=W995a
great photos with good colours....(maybe you need glasses as my granny (he he)

besides.....who gives a crap how a cellphone camera behaves in full size ??...buy a DSLR cam if you love watching your pics in full size

and NO, ELM have still yellow nuance inside their pictures, the issue doesn't go away just because you change the WB (you just get a smaller amount of yellow....still there)

Elm has a better camera, but the W995 has better music quality. Plank is contradicting himself again

your skills about photographing is just mediocre........always have, always been,

to the rest of Esato......
....compare two pictures between w995 and ELM and you clearly see how more accurate colour rendition is on w995.

@plank
Where do my "skills about photographing" come into this? I never said they are above/below mediocre, you just use this as an excuse to troll that's not part of the discussion.
It doesn't take a genius to look at two photos and see which is better, try upgrading your monitor

@fluke9
I would go for the Elm, unless music quality is important to you, it has most of the features of the W995 with better camera/video recording at a much lower price. I would ask members who have used both phones to know pros/cons of each

Recent night shot comparison done in Elm thread between these 2 phones & the Elm was better. Actually since upgrading my pc monitor to a full HD one I see photos as they really are & w995 whilst a great phone has a poor camera imo. When I first had it I was expecting amazing shots & I know how to take a decent photo but they always came out blurred or washed out colours

What was that plank? I don't understand this nonsense, maybe you are still annoyed about C901 being better than C902?

Common sense - Plank = 1 - 0
Just kidding btw, dont take offense/go crazy

Back on topic:

Luhccas-U1a is right, W995 is better as an overall phone, but if you are interested in camera, the Elm crushes it both in camera and video recording quality.

All opinions are welcome

Debate is healthy

I need a Sony Ericsson phone that will work with my TomTom 730 both will do everything I need, nearly all Nokia's won't work with my TomTom with out constantly restarting the phone.

Good camera is a bonus, but how good is the music player on the Elm ???

At the moment I use my trusty W810i or a Nokia 5800 XM, so I am hoping the Elm music player is at least as good as the aforementioned pair.

OK with my Elm the headphone supplied are a tad feable but I am using my old w995 headphone(ironic)& they sound fantastic. The w995 headphones are bass reflex.

ELM=best 5mp camera phone(along with c901)
very good audio quality(with good earphones as good as w995)
more stable,much more faster than w995,no crushes.
it's a top phone by
