the battery won't last as long as it should if you do that. lithiums don't like being discharged on a regular basis. fully discharge it about once per month(or 2 months) to calibrate the meter

Note taken. I've discharged it about 3 times now, but now I'll just do nightly charges.

Use APNdroid to block your gprs/edge/3g connections when not using them.
Use Task Panel with auto-kill to stop all the useless apps that run in background
Use plane mode when sleeping (no alarm when an android phone is off anyway)
When the x10 will be rooted you will use undervolted kernel.
Switch off autorotate for home page only(if you don't need it)
Batteries in smartphones don't get full potential before at least a full month of battery cycles, even sometimes 3 months

The battery on the X10 is ridiculous, I barely get 10h of normal use !!!!!!!! My phone dies everyday before 6pm

Unplugs at 8am
- 30mn of music
- fetch emails every hour
- wi-fi on (connected all day)
- blutooth off / GPS off
- 3G and GSM on (it's a phone duh!)

And that's it !!! If I decide to surf the web a little or use the GPS it's not even funny as the phone dies around 3pm !!!

I read some of the solutions on the forums but nothing works and the reason I bought a smartphone is to be in touch with work so I need my emails/phone all the time (i.e. I am not going to turn off wi-fi or emails fetching).

I read the comments before I purchased this phone and was used to charge my iphone every night but I did not realize that the problem of battery drain on X10 was so bad... if you need to charge your phone twice a day I am sorry but it is not a cellphone / portable phone.... it's a cordless phone !!!

i'm not at all surprised your battery life is awful. you have a very big clue right there. wifi is one of the biggest drains on the battery.

I do understand that but we are in 2010 and a phone like the iphone can be on standby for 3 days with wifi enabled. My X10 dies everyday between 3pm and 6pm (from 8am) with the same use that I had on my iphone for 2 days!

I do not mind charging my phone every night (I actually expect it as I need emails and phone 24/7) but the battery on the X10 is ridiculous for a phone at this price range / features. I am currently carrying a charger with me hoping for an updated within a week... (one can dream).

While the battery run time is an issue I am having issue with charging also. After 50% the charging slows down significantly. How long does it take to get 100% ???

Battery Fix Will Double Battery Time.

Just as a follow-up to that: SE posted some info regarding future updates for the X10 line the other day, and among that info was the following:

I would also like to emphasise that there will be an additional smaller software update, already in the next couple of weeks aiming to enhance the usability and performance of Xperia™ X10. In the next post, I will share more details and precise timings for when this update will be released.

So hopefully that means that the battery fix patch is only weeks away.

Also, if anyone's interested in this route: Mugen Power has two larger capacity batteries available for the X10. A 1800mAh model that's the same size as the stock (1500mAh) battery. And a giant 3600mAh battery that comes with a new backplate.

I've also noticed that the phone takes longer to charge via USB. Never thought there was a difference before.

Not sure what the reason exactly is but for the past 2 days my battery seems to last longer - like a FULL day!

Only difference is:
- I disabled the auto software update (settings>about phone> software update - uncheck Automatic Search
- I did not use Mediascape for more than 5mn

And am now getting about 12 hours even with wi-fi and GPS on all the time.

Ok so that answers my question. Takes me like forever to charge with USB.

my battery is fully broken in, and my phone was making it through 2 full days no sweat, so i was quite happy. over the last week, it has been barely able to make it to the 24 hour mark, and that was after hardly using it at all since i decided to revert to my old phone until SE releases an update that addresses the calibrated-for-ants call volume.

anyway, i was getting really pissed off since all of a sudden, my battery would drain by about 30 to 35% from roughly 1 am to 730 am while on standby, with wifi, BT and 3G switched off! i reviewed all my installed apps, made sure i killed apps i wasn't using and double-checked all my settings.

finally, in my Location settings, i saw that, while my GPS was disabled, i had left the option to check location via wifi checked. i did that about a week ago when i installed Layar, which is quite cool BTW. i unchecked the wifi location option, fully charged my phone last night and checked it this morning.

by unchecking that simple setting, my overnight battery drain was back to its 2 to 3% so now i am happy once again! this solution may or may not help some of you, but it's worth a try.

Did it yesterday ... still drained about 56 to 60% battery life.
