beta 4 is now available... slightly later than usual...

edit: seems to be the stablest version so far, though I still have a couple of apps that crash

so, the GM seed is now available for the SDK and OS4 (now called iOS 4).
Also available is itunes 9.2 beta for the mac and here's the kicker...

if you updated your iphone to the GM release, you can't sync your content onto it if the content is on a pc, as you need itunes 9.2 which they haven't released for pc yet)... so I'm glad I didn't jump in too quick this time!

I've decided now to wait until the official release on the 21st. beta 4 works "mostly" perfectly with just a couple of apps that crash, but they may well crash with the official OS4 release anyway in which case the developer would be releasing a new version at the same time, presumably.

Not experianced any crashes or bugs as of yet.

The multitasking UI is really nice, especially when switching between apps.

yeah, I like it too, but currently multi-tasking only really works for built in apps as no OS4-built apps have been released yet (of course).

Submissions start tomorrow apparantly, not that we can access them in the app store until the 21st anyway...
Hopefully we'll see quite a few apps that we own updated on that day

That was nice of them! I have been running iOS4 GM on the 3Gs for the last week and I must say it hasn't raised my heartbeat any. I feel having the Nexus takes the shine off the iPhone's easy to use yet boring OS. That said the iPhone 4 is a stunningly gorgeous looking device, which cannot be denied, so for that reason I may well get one.....

I also installed the GM a few days ago and it has been running almost perfectly. The only problems so far I've seen are the photo album sometimes not refreshing after a sync if I add more photos to it. And once I had the back button in Notes not working.

I had that problem in beta 2 and reported it as a bug but have not experienced it since.

Almost June 21st so soon iOS 4 will be released. I've already loaded the GM seeded almost two weeks ago and it has been rock stable.

Just a couple of minor things I'd hope they fix: the camera roll sometimes shows a photo even after downloading and deleting. And a bit annoying that the picture counter resets to 1 after deleting photos. With the old 3.1 OS it would keep the picture counter so all photos had unique names (i.e. IMG_xxxx.JPG where xxxx was a running counter since the time the phone had it's OS loaded). Now every time I download and clear the camera roll, the next photo I shoot will always be IMG_0001.JPG and since I download all photos to folders with the date as the folder name, if I download more than once per day I have to create a new folder each time.

iTunes says no update for me (I'm already running the GM seed from last week)
Also, the developer forums say its the same version which is a bit dissapointing considering that it definitly still has some issues
