Would be nice if you'd keep us updated about this phone.
How do you feel about the size of the i8910?
And how is the ui so far?

Thanks!

Well Floatlite you might be the unofficial reviewer here.

How does she handle? Any bugs so far? Is she feeling flimsy as in the feel of the body?

So far so good, the Symbian S60 FP5 is fast (in fact VERY fast), the 256mb RAM will help that along, getting about 160mb free after fully booted, pretty normal as far as Symbian UI goes, very Nokia 5800 like, but faster and the screen is much more responsive (as it should be).

Size is good, narrow enough to be help comfortably in the hand, and slightly longer than normal, but plenty of screen real estate, and great for web browsing, almost on a par with the iPhone in this area. The wide screen qwerty keyboard is well laid out, and the keys are nicely spaced for fast typing.

Not really found any bugs to be honest, although, i'm sure one will pop out sometime, the more I use it.

The body is well made, and no creaks or groans (so far), the battery cover is tight and creak free. The buttons are solid feeling and positive click, and it's nice to have a touch screen lock seperate from the full button and screen lock button.

So far so good, did I say the screen is pin sharp, very impressive.

Audio seems to up to standard, not the loudest ever, but certainly not quiet, speakers are usable, not exactly blow yer socks off, but in a quiet to medium background noise environment they are fine.

it's, well, I certainly would be careful with the use of the term High Definition, although it's many times better than most camera phones video.

Sounds good so far.
I should be getting mine at the end of the month. Can't wait.

Can you say anything about the widgets floatlite? Are they of any use?

Yeah the widgets are quite cool, you can totally customise them, you can select the number you want to show, from none to all of them, you can turn the feature on or off, and then you can obviously drag and drop the ones you require onto the 'desktop'

Interesting addition to Symbian S60

I have two more questions if you don't mind.
How is the sound quality during calls?
Some reviewer report that it is fine and others say it is bad. So it would be nice to hear your opinion on this.

And did you check the sound quality during video recording? Everyone says that it is really awful.

Thanks!

Sound quality during call is fine, not awesome, but as good as 99% out there (i've tried alot!)

Sound during video is ok, as long as you do not have the volumes all set to the max.

It does tend to pic up a bit of 'near' noise interference, but i find it acceptable, to be honest I would use it for a back up, or on the spot video, I use a Sony HD camcorder for more serious video work.

@rbg777, who said its using AMR codec for audio in video recording? I don't know of any phone that uses that since the K750i or earlier.

I believe its using AAC but in very low bitrate. Lets hope Samsung updates this and thus the quality of Video recording will be better.

@David,

could you please revisit the quality question on audio when video recording please? Test both low video quality's Audio, vs medium and high 720p video recording's Audio quality? Thanks.

All die hard SE fans should be more interactive with David's review of the Samsung HD since the hardware platform is VERY VERY similar to what SE will be using in the Idou.

Symbian Foundation has made the TI OMAP3 platform the baseline of all future Symbian^2 or higher OS based devices ... which means some seriously fast performance with the codec already supporting SMP which no other smartphone OS does natively, not even the bullshit quoted "iPhone OS is the best mobile OS in the world" or Linux of any form or branch thereof.

SMP, and the ability to use TI Omap ARM cpu's is something Nokia had pushed for in the days of the N95. Many SE fans don't see this kind of innovation but will when Idou launches.

Mine should be delivered on Wednesday, could have been tomorrow but I'd have got woman grief.

Couldn't bring myself to go onto an 18 month contract so it cost me £215 on Dolphin 35 for 12 months. I'll sell my 16gb Omnia to soften the blow.
