Strange that  is not exhibiting at the massive CES 2009in Las Vegas in January. Both Sony and Ericsson have a stand there too.
They announced 3 phones there at the 2008 event - W350, W760i and Z555i. This probably means that Mobile World Congress will be their main platform for announcing phones in Q1.

Well, could this be the first sign of SE's transition from more quantity to more quality (ie less phones, but better ones)? If they do that, I think its a good sign of better things to come in MWC. Besides, CES seems to be more focused on latest technologies. Unless they were anouncing another X1-level phone there, it would just make them seem weak IMO. Might aswell wait for MWC where there is much more in terms of showcasing a variety of new handsets.
BTW, congrats from me on your work here Oli, I knew it'd be impressive, judging by your awesome concepts >D
Now we just need new rumours for the new thread, to make it as successful as the last one was. |

Well all the signs are showing a contraction of the portfolio so I guess SE will be introducing fewer but higher-impact devices for 2009.
When you look at devices like the N95 and the iPhone they are both expensive AND hugely successful and have probably made their respective companies a lot of money which proves that introducing an expensive and/or top-flight device doesn't necessarily mean it'll sell in low numbers. Take note SE.
Regarding the CES, strange they're not exibiting the X1a there as it is primarily for the American market.

It's not flash so I don't know why it won't display. It is only HTML and images no wider than 800 pixels. Maybe the images are too large?

Seems like Opera mini does not support background images as well as white coloured fonts  i'm using both opera 4.1 and 3.1 mod.

Smape mentions something about the new version panel UI that future xperias will feature later on. i do hope it will feature more eyecandies as well as more useful panels. not the gimmicky panels that x1 has. i'm also eager to see SE's s60 phone.

We might not have that long to wait to find out. If you remember the 1st Xperia device was announced in February 2008.
MWC 2009 could be quite interesting.

I wonder whether the new version of the panels will be added to the X1 as an update, or whether SE will make it an exclusive thing for their new XPERIAS when they arrive.
Considering that MWC is around a year on from the X1's original announcement date, and given that they released around 7 phones at the same time as the X1, I am expecting a large announcement from Sony Ericsson at MWC. If not large, then at least packing some heat!

Im really hoping for the alicia announcement to be held there. You know official confirment and all. I also hope some kind of wicked cool walkman phone besides the w705 comes out some time in april as i really hate the color sceme and the way its plastic looking on he button but metal looking round the screen. |
