Yes it will definitely work with an 8GB card. Theoretically it will work up to 32GB, but those don't exist yet.

Wow, are you sure ? Have you tried it ? If yes which brand have you used ?
If this is confirmed it is really a GOOD news !!

All Sony Ericsson A2 platform phones are capable of this (and some earlier models too). The V640i is an A2 phone. It will work.
I haven't tried, but several other members here have with no problems. Sandisk or Sony will be good.

Been there, done that. No worries. I have a SanDisk in use, Sony has no real advantages but is a lot more expensive. |

My 8GB Sandisk M2 works fine in my V640i but in my V800 it shows up as only 2GB.

But you can still use the full 8GB capacity in the V800. It just doesn't say its there when you check the capacity on the phone.

Dunno what country you're in but Plemix.com is a pretty good bet.

Yes it's true. I have seen people using 8gb cards in their phones without problems... It works even on DB2020 platform phones so the DB3150 (a2) supports it without any problems.

I think v800 can only read fat16? Hence the 2GB limit?

My DB2020 (K800) takes 8GB no worries

Don't be sorry
I'm not 100% sure but somewhere in my memory I remember the V800, P910 both using fat16.
