Why did the Romans build straight roads?

That was actually a question from my history teacher at school, and that way my response, completely off the cuff, the whole class p!ssed themselves laughing, the teacher sadly didn't see the funny side of it and sent me to the head master :/

Wow, so much new stock! I got lost for days and days! I got attacked by lions on the 7th floor and they stole my wallet, so I can't buy anything...

Yeah, but with no elevator in this building I have to go past the 7th floor to get to the 69th! I'm not risking that again!

There is no elevator.
When you built this new building you must have forgotten to put one in. There isn't even any stairs, there's only a ladder going up the outside of the building! And that's where the lions are!

They're up on level 36 but you'll need to get them yourself, the staff round here are lazy!
Oh yeah and look out for the Lions on level 7. They'll tear you apart!
