K810 or K850? |

I'm planning to upgrade to a Sony Ericsson because I've been hearing good things about their camera. As far as I know, they both have similar sensors so the high MP count in K850 will definitely generate noise, but it seems to have a better camera driver as compared to K810.
From recent photo threads I notice that K850 delivers better contrast and sharper details (plank's photos come to mind), K810 have better colors but washed out saturation. The K850 also has better music, better screen and accelerometer, but are they worth the extra money? I feel that the touch-sensitive buttons and the lens cover are a bit fragile and I've heard of dust collecting under the lens.
What do you guys think?

i had a k800(similar to k810) before my k850 and though the k850 can produce better pics, you do have to fiddle with the settings to get the best from it,while the k800 was/is a better point and shoot camera.
my phone has been perfectly behaved since i got it in Oct 2007,i would recomend it. |

What? Are you feeling okay?
You actually got the K850i, I'm surprised.
Anyway, I stayed away from the device due to bad reviews from owners and one advice I would give is make sure you want it and don't regret it after having researched its pros and cons. Too many cons if you ask me.
There are other alternatives like the C902 or the N82. I deliberately overlook the K810 cause really it is too old and I'm wondering why you would consider it at this time.

K850 is better than k810 in almost everything.
I dont know why people are still asking this,
almost every person who upgrade from k810/k800 to k850 are very happy with it.
Is true, it have some bugs/problems but apart from that is a great phone.
(sorry for my english)

I didnt want a high pixel count like you but i wanted a new phone with loads of features i got the c702 its 3.2megapixel cam is better than the one my k800 had, its got a lens cover, built in gps, 2.2 inch screen like the k850, no dodgey touch buttons and on the lastest firmware it runs smoothly you should consider it and i dont miss the xenon flash. |

I have carefully analyzed ur query
And at present i wont suggest u to look at k810, if ur looking for cybershot SE phone. k850, C702 has improved features with flashy user interface, with great screen.so at present i would suggest these phones if ur looking for average picture quality.
K850-Average image quality with xenon flash
C702-Average image quality with water/dust resistant with finger resistant materials.
C902-Mediocre image quality with slim profile & great materials

I don't want to start a debate here but try looking at the camera phones section for C902 and then return back here and tell us that the camera is mediocre(esp. when compared to K850)
and regarding the C702 - i think you did not learn your lessons, even number1 which is one of the best SE modded camdriver engineer have said that C702 outperforms K800 camera quality wise. again try looking at the samples on the camera section |

i agree with technical-expert, the c902 pics the colours are nice but the post-processing is awful far worse than my old k800 theres hardly any detail left in the pics,
the k850 ain't so bad on the post-processing but unless you use the correct settings the colours will get washed out,
The c702 on the latest firmware the colours have improved alot and the blueish tint has gone, only having 3.2megapixels on the same sized sensor as the c902 & k850 are using gives it a advantage less post-processing is needed meaning pics have more details, the post-processing only kicks in when shooting in 0 or very little light and still the pics ain't bad. |

I forgot to mention that I'm not looking for an expensive phone, and I considered the K850 since it's really cheap due to low demand right now. K810 is very affordable. I don't even look at N82 and N95 8GB since the prices are sky high. I'm just looking for a good phone with a good camera and I don't use high-tech capabilities such as GPS and Wi-fi. I'm actually leaning towards K850, but if I can sacrifice the 0.2 in screen, 2 MP (same sensor size), accelerometer, and touch-sensitive buttons for stability and speed, I will.
Oh, and I tend to stay away from phones that are less than half a year old due to buggy firmware and inflated prices, but the C702 sounds like a good deal.

i wouldnt go back to old interface/UI for all butter in Smland. so of course i buy me a A200 phone.
so much better on everything & more funny to use (and much more beatiful done) then old k800/k810 platform.
but if you want a simple camera, buy C902 instead. (C902 have absolut best details & colors)

I don't really like simple point and shoot cameras. I'd prefer to have some control on the ISO, shutter speed, metering, EV, etc... or is that demanding too much from a camera phone? Then again, the last phone I used had a pathetic 0.3MP camera. Oh, and I don't mind post-processing since I usually process my photos with CS3 anyway.
How powerful is the flash in C702? Is it horrendous with indoor/low-light photos? Guess I better check the photo thread...
Oh, and regarding C902's picture quality, I believe number1 and technical-expert are right. C902's aggressive post-processing removes a lot of details. It seems SE is trying to follow in Nokia's footsteps...
