Magic Gate? Is that the annoying version of a memory stick that is designed to stop people listening to mp3? If so, that's not really good news... imho

Magic Gate is some kind of piracy prevention thing, it's also on PS2 memory cards as well....

@andrew99
It is....but at least on the P800 you can copy MP3 files even on MG without "filtering" through those sucking Sony's programs (who has an MD player knows...). Free MP3 bouncing to and from without restrictions.

@hopeless
Thanks. I hate being told (coerced) into what I can and cannot do with my stuff. So I have an understandable dislike of magic gate, but any larger ms duo is good news I guess.

I hate being coerced too ! Nevertheless I hate MS in general. Too much proprietary format. the world does work on SD, but Sony (Music) don't....

I read somewhere that the P800 doesn't support the MagicGate sticks... can anyone please confirm? I think it's in the Manual or the WP. |

Just checked. The manual says nothing about MG type. It states only about max MS supported capacity (128 MB).

Maybe the P800 will support larger MS Duo after a while, when they become available.
I hope so!

i am going to wait until march to buy the 128mb MS-D
but maybe there will be more than 128mb .... we have to do an upgrade so our P800's can support more
but 128mb is enough
128+12+16= 156mb |
