I've been saying it for a while lately that the countdown has begun for SE. The downward spiral continues. To those who love SE so much please STOP making excuses and accept the reality- for the last two years SE just sucks!

I've been so loyal to SE since Ericsson until I had enough this year and moved on to another brand for the first time in 10 years. By the looks of things I made the best decision as it looks like it is still going to get worse.

Nokia have stepped up a notch and every other manufacturer is trailing far behind. If my new home (Motorola) doesn't provide me with a good smartphone I may yet still go to Nokia.

I love it when SE fanboys bring up the "pic quality will improve with new firmware" argument. It cracks me up.

Oh my, SE officially sucks big time... to the dark side, seems like it's actually brighter

OK... if there is a chance when the retail version comes out it will improve...

Time is near and we will find out soon and do hope it does get better... I prefer phones, always have done but at the present I am using a N95-8GB due to the K850i being so disappointing.... and the only handset I have is the K810i... which is probably one of their best...

Cheers
ENJOY

I really do believe, that a Generic unbranded version of the C902, will be what we should judge the Camera by - not a PreProduction Test unit - come on guys - thats beyond a joke - and 'QVGA' - its not about 'Sony Ericsson Fanboys' - firmware always fixes bugs - I say judge on the retail version of the h'set!

@dualist

Common Sense, seems only very few selected members here wish to use it...!!

Glad to hear you agree - after all, would anyone judge a car when its wrapped up with black tape and dummy parts, with test engines???

NO - so stop Judging the C902 with the same principles...

WOW! Nice one NOKIA no matter how ugly the 6220c is it DOES NOT change the fact that NOKIA have better image quality. C902 doesnt look any better either

nah the c902 looks a lot better, but that doesn't change the fact that the image quality from is c902 is surprisingly bad

Come on guys, while firmware updates MAY (read: probably not) fix the color issues, its never going to fix the horrible noise and purple fringing found due to using a poor quality and undersized sensor. Compare a crop from both cameras at 100% size

Nokia 6220:

SE C902:

Sorry, but that quality is just pathetic. SE has really lost it if they consider this "cybershot" quality.

My K790a takes better pics than that. That's why I don't believe this is a final unit for resale.

These pics were obviously taken with a pre-release firmware and are bound to be poor. New firmware will inevitably improve the camera quality, as it always does with SE phones - there's no debating that.

The bitching in this thread is meaningless - if you recall, the quality of the photos in the K800i pre-release firmware was equally bad. We just need to be patient for a few months' for SE to perfect their camera drivers.

The only real topic worthy of discussion is why SE can't get their software right before launching new handsets, rather than their current model of releasing shabby firmware and effectively using their customer to beta-test the bugs out of it.

I'm commenting on the BOLD one: Yes, it's worked for 3.2 MP camera and below, and NOT for 5MP. K850 proves otherwise.

I prefer the C902

then you sir certainly need to correct your vision.
it's funny how people say that the C902 didn't come out yet, so that explains the quality of the pictures. but people don't seem to notice that the 6220 classic ALSO has not been released yet.

@Mr driftmania, he didn't say that he prefer C902 by judging the camera quality - perhaps he prefers it as a whole over the 6220 so don't put the words into his mouth

Tbvh I am really pissed with SE's 5mp quality so much but that doesn't make me feel like going back to the dark side there are still things that differentiates SE and Nokia - user experience. nokia may be the best in terms of camera and so on but having used to SE and finding it well fitting to me doesn't make nokia better in my eyes, and people outside this internet forum, i mean the normal people on the street finds a phone which suits them well - in fact most of my friends who owns N95 and N82 here doesn't know that N82 is the best imaging phone for this year and the best thing is that they don't use the camera that much

ok the c902 produces very bad photos (going by these images), so im 'assuming' have used a smaller/low quality unit as a result of the phone being 10mm thin.

The 6220classic is 15mm, so im also assuming the nokia has a larger/better quality (obviously judging from these pictures) unit

5mm is a lot in a phone, and im sure a better unit would have been used if the c902 were 15mm.

But its not, its 10mm, and now we have this shabby photo quality.

Life goes on...

ps. before anyone calls me a fanboy, im not defending im just saying that this MAY be the cause of the poor image quality. I'd be saying the same if the results were the other way around.
