hello jonnor,
if u go to MyP800 icon on your bar and click on it u will see different functions like sync and backup/restore fuctions. For me, the backup/restore has not worked at all. it shows as if it is processing the back up but then its not really working.

@D_G: what Firmware do you have on your phone? I had the same problems with R1A and the Sync-SW from the DevKit.
An upgrade to R1B and installing the Retail-Version of the Sync-SW solved my problems.
If you can't get hands on the new Firmware, try the following: before you start Phone Backup, shut down and restart the P800. It worked sometimes for me (not always ), just give it a try.

Can you make a backup on the memory stick duo???
In the review I read that the P800 software doesn't work with win98se anymore. WinME is the minimum, but I'm not thinking about upgrading my computer yet.

Yes, when you do a backup, you can choose whether you want to backup just internal memory or internal plus ms duo als well.
Win98SE is not supported by the P800 Suite... Time to change

Yup, WinME is supported. Maybe, Win98SE works as well, it's just not on the list of required OS's.

@D_G: Check the Homepage of your Provider, there you should find somewhere either a description how to set up GPRS-Accounts, or you can let them send you an SMS with all the configuration in it. Probably, you won't find the P800 when it comes to choose the mobile, so pick SE T300, as the configuration is the same. Good Luck

@wongyew: on the other hand: Win98 IS very old, and the technology behing it has no future... So if it's not for a mobile, you'll have to do an upgrade for other SW in the near future, I suppose...

Perhaps my question wasn't clear enough. I want to know if it's possible to backup the complete internal PHONE memory on a Memorystick.
My PC with win98se probably isn't able to run the p800 comm suite, but if it's possible to backup o a separate memorystick I can overcome this problem. I won't be able to sync with outlook but i still van save my important data on a spare memorystick
'For expample, with PAlm devices you can fully backup your device on a sd card, you don't need a computer at all.
Does any of the lucky p800 owners know if this is possible??

marky,
I dont think you can do that unfortunately. I couldnt find anything like this in the manual. it would have been nice to do so and i hope there is a way to do it. copy all your files basically to memory stick and save them there.

thanks D_G (is that from Directional Gyro?, the handy little navaid in an aircraft)
I'm hoping someone on this board is gonna test the comm suite with win98se. Upgrading my system is just not possible for various reasons and this problem really could prevent me from buying the device I've been waiting for so long
