I think despite it being in proto stage and based on past experience the G900 will probably be the worst 5MP cam phone ever. Those pics dont even looks like they are 5MP.

@Caspa Yes, I always tought it was black too ... :-) @bavlondon ... hoping you are wrong ... although if you think about it, they will probably make the camera worse than the one C902, and given the fact that C902's camera is not something to shout about in the first place, I would say that you are probably right ! :-(

What does look like 5MP??? Did they change from being 5000 pixel photos???

And how on earth can you say g900 will have the "worse 5mp camera ever" at this point??? Seriously...lol

Come of it ares. they look terrible. No other phone in proto mode was this bad. It will get the benefit of the doubt until its released but im sure my opinion will only be confirmed once its out.

Since its a proto, there's still scope of improvement. But knowing SE.....well....I'd rather not comment

Thats a joke right? G600 is better in most conditions than the K850. Anyway lets not turn this into a debate. The point is these proto pics look awful and I dont ever remember the P1 pics looking that bad in propt stage. Infact I challange someone to find me pre release pics by the P1 and then tell me they were bad before it was released.

They were. And they had green tint. But you're still right, in a sense - there's just no point with 5mp on that lens and that sensor. And any $50-100 digital camera will serve you better as a camera. ...which is the case with the n82 as well, of course..

So in the end, as always, it comes down to what you want - if you want a replacement for a fairly average camera, then it's probably almost good enough, some times, in good light. And if you want fancy UI, then it's a really good choice, obviously. I mean, the touch- thing and the fading menus are really nice, and they don't seem entirely useless either.. But it's not a good camera. Not even as good as it could be on that size. The noise on the pics make that clear - and that's just not going to be "fixed" with software tuning.

Despite what seems to be problems with the G900s camera I am still very keen on getting this phone - I have seen the mobile-review gallery but have there been any galleries of the dark brown model spotted online?

To consider: P1 was SE's UIQ flagship for 2007...and SE used the cheapest, worst possible 3.2mp sensor they could for the camera(GBrooks3 even posted tech links to the manufacturer's website on here)......

So why does anyone expect them to use a half-decent sensor in a UIQ mid-range device, a year later?? They haven't bothered since P990......

It isn't exactly a... very strange thing to do for a "budget- phone", that isn't a dedicated camera- phone.. But the camera still sucks, obviously.

It has a high- performance lithium- polymer battery, though. N95 8gb, n82 and the new n96 all come with a lithium- ion batteries. Actually, I think every nokia- phone except the e61, e90 and the internet tablet comes with a li-ion battery. Meaning more variable current, specially with temperature- variations. And the battery will degrade steadily over time, whether you use the phone or not. In the end causing a heavy hit on the battery before you even take into account the way the hardware and software is put together..

If the G900 cam is a problem, go for the G700. I hope they sort it out because touch focus is a nice addition.
