i already saw that page, but my question is how bilinear filter will work when there is no zoom. bilinear filter is for when we haven't enough data(enlargement) or when we have too much data(reduction). but for 1:1 ... i can't understand how it will work!!

i think it's combination of sharpness, whitebalance and poor sensor(that is the best till now!!)

I can get the k770i and the k810i for the same price.. really the only discerning factor for me is the quality of the camera. I was all ready to go and purchase the k810i until I read on here that the k770i camera was better in places.

if cam quality is important for you, go for K810i.

This page is a somewhat mixed-up listing. In some cases it lists part numbers for camera modules (such as KNC20115 for the module in the K750/W800/W810) while for other phones it lists the sensor chip types.

thats not noise reduction that does that to the k800i pics it's a combination of compression and the dam bilinear filter which is on all the time even when zoom isn't being used.

Interesting that the K770, using a non-Sony camera, produces what a lot of people feel are better photos. That's probably something SE would not be beating their chest over... I wonder why SE chose a camera from another source? Could it have been price or quality?

se normally use there own sensors in high-end phones, mid-end phones normally have samsung or OmniVision sensors, low-end normally have micron sensor. the k810i has a better sensor than the k770i but the k770 has a better driver and the firmware seems to process that pics better, the k770i has better more real colours because the whitebalance is turned off, i dunno why the k770 takes sharper pics i'm sure that has something to do with the post-processing in the firmware.

My default one was R8AA China. And it was washed out. Mine is not modded anyway. It's original Taiwan firmware, R8BA.

The K800/K850 certainly isn't doing bilinear filtering! And I really don't think its jpeg compression - if so it would be the worst jpeg compression i've ever seen!

I am 99% sure its some kind of noise filter, used to try to hide the high amount of noise the camera produces. Except the CPU in the phone isn't fast enough to do a high quality filter in a reasonable amount of time, so instead we get that mushy, smeary mess that it produces. On large areas of broad detail (like macro's, close ups of faces, etc) its not very noticeable. But when there is a lot of fine detail in small areas (like leaves, tree branches, grass, dirt/gravel), it all becomes lost in translation.

The K770 certainly doesn't have a better lens than the K800/K850. But what it does have is better camera software to process the image the sensor receives.

An aside: Do either of the phones contain a "normal" earphone socket? I assume both come with earphones? Does the k700 have any extra features over the k810?

no they don't they both come with the hpm-62 headset, the k810i has extra features over the k770 because it's a high-end phone and the k770i is a mid-end phone, k810 has more memory a xenon more camera options 16x digital zoom, 3g, the k770i has flash lite support over the k810i.

True.
And K770's front cam quality is definitely better than K810's. [addsig]

Down the bottom of the page, theres k770 vs k810 photos. Click on the photos to view original size.I like the k770 photos better. Lesser jagginess and better colours. This chinese site loads pictures quite fast so dun wory about taking ages to open a picture!
