Some themes wont work unless your change the date on your phone though is that often the case for this phone too?

I can't seem to get any for my E65 and it happens that Vodafone aren't releasing any updates for it in the near future even though theres some avail present for non branded handsets, it really is a bummer

@Miss UK

That all depends on when they were created as the certificate expires all that is needed is to set the date back a Year to install them and the reset the Year afterwards not really to much hassle IMO.

I really would suggest you debrand your device to get rid of all the Voda rubbish unless of course there is something you really like and use from it, as Generic firmware is always better IMO by along way.

@Dogmann

Excellent, Thanks

I managed to install Windows Live Messenger and it works great. Only downside so far is that to keep it running it drains the battery.

Dogmann im just thinking though if i even do that debranding then what happens when the phone develops a fault and needs to be sent to Vodafone? wont it jepordise the warranty?

the newer firmware for the E65 has newer themes so im told the ones on it atm are pants, ive not really used the new phone since ive had it last week,
it remains in the box untouched still

You can always change the product code back although if Voda don't release the new firmware that would give away if the phone still booted. Otherwise if you really are not happy with it get the unlock code from Voda and sell it.

selling it would get me 100 so it's not worth it
i'll leave it the way it is for now,

i'll start using it as I don't care what happens to it,
my N80 means more to me than it

But then a N80 when launched was a flagship product it has an awesome screen and all the other N series goodies in it and with the latest Firmware even battery life is better. It really is an excellent example of a good Multimedia smart phone i really would of liked to have had one. But i went from a N70, N73, N93, E61, N95, E90, N95 8Gb and i really can't wait to see what next year brings.

That really is a lot of phone for the money even the retail Nokia price of 259 is good, if it's only worth 100 keep it get rid of the Voda rubbish and there is always a Nokia service Centre if it's in Warranty and that's 2 years and really it's very unlikely to go wrong. If you already kind of like it getting rid of all the Voda restrictions will be a revelation.

I had been after a N80 for so long after I first saw it in Berlin last year,
it looks really hot in Black, Im glad I had mine converted into the Black one aswell, it's just a great phone shame Nokia killed it off, it's smaller then the N95 and handles everything that does anyway.

don't get me wrong after have a Silver N95 it's a good phone,
however that Black 1 looks alot better

if you ever get to try a N80 im sure you will be pretty happy with it,
for performance and reliability etc

The E65 is a pretty lil thing but it's nothing compared to the N Series,
Nokia missed out alot of things for it when they conjured it up but otherwise I just took it as it had Wi-Fi ..

If I get issues using it i'll decide upon De-branding it,
I would like to change the front to the pink one actually

as for price yup 100 will get you a BNIB one off fleBay,
seems prices are dropping like flys, even the silver N95 you can get one for 150+ lol

But then just look at how old the original N95 is now it's not a just realeased device and there are much newer models now realeased to compete with it, still a lot of device for that money.

The E65 is a mid budget E series business phone so does what it needs to well even if it is missing any thrills, the N80 now is very old indeed and doesn't have even the now old OMAP 2420 chip but does still have one the best screens ever.

Yep N80 is a great phone, ive had it for 5months and STILL can't get over the beauty of the screen, the battery realy is not bad im using mine in UMTS (3G) Only mode and it lasts for a good 10hours. I had been actualy thinking of getting an E65 if my N80 had to be replaced due to the loose slider but after reading all this think il get N95-8GB but only when i upgrade in 08.

Dogmann, only phone that would compete against the N95 Classic would be your 8GB,
when you look at functions and stuff not all phones outhere can perform this

Im stuck with my E65 and N80IE till May 2009 by then im hoping your phones cheaper than chips or something totally new will be out

N80 for me tho is tops over the E65,
E65 has a rubbish camera no flash for one thing, everything else though its good

personally I wouldn't advise anyone to have it on a 18 month contract

What is the main difference between a phone that TOTALLY unbranded and a phone that is branded by Vodafone, Orange, etc.

The Main difference and all minor differences, too.

Well i've taken the plunge and just this minute ordered an N95 8GB on Voda...

Took the 35 a month tariff which includes 300 anytime minutes, 250 texts and the Voda World web browsing pack which includes 120mb a month....

Really was a spur of the minute decision lets hope i dont regret it guys though by the looks of it i will not be disapointed.

As a few of you may remember i had my N95 for around 6 months which for me is a LONG time.... Replaced that with my K850i which although is good its no smartfone....
