Hello,
I recently unblocked my W880i (52 on Orange France) phone. Today, i put a new SIM card in. Then turned the phone off to put my old SIM card back in, and when i came to turn on the phone, it WILL NOT POWER ON ANYMORE!

all i get is a red light under the Power button followed by some blinking for a few seconds.

I tried everything it will not turn on. What is going on here? i tried connecting to charger, USB, etc etc nothing seems to work and phone will not turn on. please help me as i m stranded away on business and cant access my contacts anymore.

thanks in advance,

Edit: I should point out that the phone was unlocked with a PUK code given to me by a phone store who used the server method to unlock.

Try leaving the battery out for around half an hour. Hopefully that will help.

It does sound kind of like what happened to one of my V600s a few years ago... I pulled the battery out straight after i thought i had turned the phone off, but i think the software was doing something at the time and i killed my phone. Just by taking the battery out. I had to take it back and got a new one which did the same thing, so i went and got another (all free though, but i lost many photos, etc.). Now whenever i turn my phone off, i wait until the led stops blinking before taking out the battery, because when it stops blinking, then the phone has properly turned off.

I hope this hasn't happened to yours, and it probably hasn't as newer software versions seem more stable. Definitely try an update or taking the battery out.

Thank you for the advice. will try leaving the battery out for a while. Come to think of it, that is actually what i did...i pulled the battery out without powering off. I hope the phone isnt dead (

Does the red blinking actually mean something? I ve called Sony Ericsson support line and they have no idea (surprise surprise...)

Visit www.wotanserver.com . Download WotanClient, install USB Flash Driver, and connect the phone. If it is recognised by WotanClient, there's a chance that your W880 is alive again. Good luck.

I ve downloaded wotanclient and the USBflashdriver. I m just not able to install the usb flash driver. I ve located some instructions here : http://www.mobileplanet.com/ft.aspx?k=78253 replacing the "c" by "2" but nothing happens when i connect the phone. is there any other way to install the flash driver?

thanks again!

Dude i just wanna warn you that don't get into this WOTAN thing ... This can totally destroy your phone even if your phone is fine ...
Just take it to service centre , many people have completely lost there phones with WOTAN ...

Im just warning you , then its your choice whether you want to do it or not ...

I'm not actually sure if the W880 has an led. But the V600 had a yellow led on the top of the phone which blinked basically to show the phone is working. If your phone did this due to you pulling the battery out, i don't think much can be done, as mine was just completely dead. Is it possible you can take your W880 back to the shop you purchased it from? This wotan business sounds quite risky, so just taking it back would be a safer option. Wotan will void your warranty!

How can you differentiate a Wotan-flashed phone with SEMC-flashed one? For W880i, you can't see the difference.

Well if wotan screws the phone up, the warranty would be voided wouldn't it?

Just say it's dead and your warranty is just fine. There is no clue at all that can reveal a Wotan flash, especially with DB2020 phones if you exactly follow Wotan's guide...

So anyone tried to fix the dead phone problem (the red C led is blinking when trying to start the phone) ?

I have the same problem. And I don't have warranty, also when I buyed the phone it was already decoded.

So I should try the method with wotan or buy another phone ?
Here in my city I visited 5 services, and all are saying that I can dump my phone.
They have resofted the phone but it's not starting. They tried to fix erom, gdfs but without luck.
