That's very sad news.

Colin McRae was a firm favourite here in New Zealand having won the Rally of NZ three times in a row. I will always think of him as a Subaru driver even though he drove for other teams too. I also have the original Colin McRae Rally game for my Xbox.

R.I.P. Colin (and son). Say hi to Richard Burns and Possum Bourne for us!

I know its looking highly likely he and his son were in the helicopter, police still haven't officially identified the bodies yet.

If ever there was a glimmer of hope, may it be now.

The latest release from the BBC is
"Mr McRae, 39, his son Johnny, the youngster's friend Ben Porcelli and family friend Graeme Duncan, 37, were all thought to be on board. Formal identification is expected in the next few days. "

Let us all just hope and pray that some of these people are still alive, as the formal identification is not expected for another couple of days, and as procterdc said, if there was a glimmer of hope let it be now

Also, may those killed in this tragic accident all rest in peace

Think it's safe to say it was them, if it wasn't....then where is he, his wife and friends would phone his mobile etc.

Really doubt it's a big coincidence that the helli he flies has crashed...and him and his son is missing...but it's not them.

The BBC are just covering their backs so to speak.

As sad as it is, it's deff him
