The "Butterfly" is a slider, but it slides out horizontally, rather than vertically like most other slider phones. The whole package is an AMOLED touchscreen and it includes all of the regulars like a camera, SD expandability and such.
There is a little to no chance in hell of this ever becoming a real phone, but it is definitely interesting to see how the minds of the future cellphone designers are working, oh and it was designed by a 15-year-old Korean student studying in Canada.

some people have it in their blood...
the problem these days aren't the designers, the problems are heads of the companies - that see design as a way of styling, not a way to creat new experiences

Phone manufacturers should think more like Honda, they said the new Civic couldn't be built but after a complete re-tooling of their production line... it was!

as far as i remember designworks usa (this is bmws design headquater) was responsibil for the first nokia communicator and some others (they also do other stuff)
but don't ask me if they have stopped design stuff for other companies and i also don't know if bangle was involved in nokia stuff |

Well, there are designers like this who create 'dream phones' and designers from companies who design 'practical phones' which are possible under todays technological limits.
Who doesn't want a phones with three huge widescreen displays? But then practicality goes out the window.
It's very easy to design a good looking phone with brilliant specs, but to produce for real is another task. Think about the OLED screen keyboard - great looks and concept, but has it even made it to market after 2 or 3 years? And when it does, it'll cost $US1500+.

being totally honest: it's ugly!
it's also not really possible with the tech atm...and if it were to be sold - bump the camera up a bit! needs a 2mpx/3mpx at least! well it defo will if this thing ever was made as it would be in a few years!!
anyway, suppose it's suprising a 15 yr old designed it! i'm 14 and would never bother doing something like that without defo getting paid for it tbh!!
