Really dont see the point of making the same basic spec handset with a new look and the look is not even all that. |

I'm getting pretty down on SE lately. All the new phones they create look and function basically the same (at least US phones). It seems like they make a ton of other Walman phones that won't work in the US that have a different looks and features.
I originally started with a W800i years ago, but had to upgrade to the W810i since the signal for the W800i was shady at best. This was fine, since it was basically the same phone (but I do miss the camera lense cover and joystick). The 2.0 megapixel camera resolution in the Walkman phones has been the same since the W800i. It would be nice if there was an upgrade option there while still sticking with the Walkman features.
Why don't they offer a Walkman phone that has the camera resolution of their CyberShot and just charge a little more for it (although they are pretty expensive already). I would like the best possible all-in-one device so I only need to carry one thing with me wherever I go. 2.0 megapixel cam resolution is okay, but it doesn't compare at all to new cameras these days with 8+ mp resolutions. How about an upgrade there.
I want the Walkman player 2.0, but I don't want to spend $400-$500 dollars for it. How about a firmware upgrade for the W8xx series that are still using 1.x?
Thin is nice, but I'd prefer more power/features. Can we get a model that has that option? Let's see a little variety here SE... and some more significant upgrades!
... and please bring back the camera lense from the W800i!

...and another thing. As soon as I upgrade my W810i to a 2gb Memory Stick Pro Duo, they change to a new memory media in new phones. Thanks!

welcome to the free market. you'll have to understand has to have something up its sleeve to keep the money pouring in, so they'd have something to fuel R&D, so they can chunk out newer models, and the cycle goes on. if you dont feel like youre getting the same deal you did with your W800, feel free to look somewhere else. the consumers talk best with their $$$s
btw the W610 is essentially a W810 in another shell and software enhancements that wouldnt have problems shoving onto the W800 (that is, if W800 sales still warrant and stoke further R&D. the short answer being NO, and we all eventually have to move on

This phone is supposed to take over from the W810i but in my opinion the W810i still has a lot of mileage left in it - some might argue that the W810i is better looking than the W610i.

1) Why say this is replacing the W810, yes its a slight upgrade but its positioning is lower. I'd think they might modify the K810 and push it as a W810 successor.
2) Anyone have an idea on pricing?

Wonder what "Premium material" is exactly? Is there a technical description for this (which would make it better built than other SE phones), or is it just a marketing catchphrase?? |

Since the W610 come with Walkman player 2.0 and pretty much the same "insides" as the W810, would it be too much to hope for a firmware upgrade for my W810 to include the Walkman player 2.0? If they did that, I wouldn't be as disapointed... |

yes, it is to much to hope for. The phone industry works a bit different from the PC industry. If you want a new or a much improved feature you have to buy a new phone rather than upgrading your old. Not because its impossible to upgrade your old phone, but rather because they make more money that way (it may change in future, who knows).
