i have read all the threads regarding the hype surrounding the imminent launch of the new se smartphones (i really hope they'll be launched soon..)
and like most of you i am more excited about the p700 than ever before but after reading all your posts, i still need answers to a couple of questions...
1. the beautiful renders of the m610 and p700 were only that, renders?
2. the only difference between the two will be a 3.2mp camera?
3. in the spy photo section, the white m610 keys are slightly raised on the left and right hand side, why is this missing from the renders? (i know they're photshopped but will the p700 have keys like this too?)
4. what is the black 5mp camera/phone supposed to be? an early proto or an unannounced new model? or did i miss something...?
thanks for your help, and fingers crossed we get our hands on a p700 soon... finally a phone tailored to most of our needs... i hope

I'll try to answer a few of your question, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, there is a render of the P700 by deuxani which is said to resemble the prototype very accurately (95%), the m610 (Lizzy) having been cancelled
according to some people, we haven't seen anything about it.

Pretty much and maybe a different casing.

In these pics, the prototype of the new P700 is the black and purple phone, the white one being a proto of the M600i (which we know doesn't have the raised keys). The new smartphones should have the same keys as the actual M600.

It's supposed to be pics of a proto of an announced phone, the next Cybershot codenamed.. heu...can't remember. The new brother of the K800 if you will.

This is a very good looking render and if it is 90% accurate then I will be impressed with the real thing. My question is, and I don't know if there is an answer, if this will be called the P700 it would appear to be a step down from the P990. So, seeing as how the P-series demise was short lived, does this mean there will be a successor to the P990? I do not own that phone, due to the omission of North American 3G bands, but the reviews I have read seem to be weighted heavily toward the negative. I hope that SE will learn from the P990 and make the necessary improvements to a successor. I'm also hoping that SE will start using the Ericsson U360 chip in all future phones so that those of us on the left side of the pond will have a viable option to WM phones.
Did I mention I miss having a P-phone. I had the P800 and the P910A, but I won't buy another smartphone without 3G so I am stuck with the HTC TyTN right now. Its not bad but I miss the ease of use of UIQ. |

One thing confused me, so called P700 it has higher specifications than P990i like 3.2MP camera, shouldn't it be called P1000 or something? |

The Z750 has higher specifications when compared to the Z800 but then it was still called the Z750. |

from what I understood, the M series is kept for smartphones without camera (for business users).
The P700 will have a M600 form factor but that doesn't mean SE won't update the P9xx form factor keeping the keyboard flip. |

The P700 is more of a M600 with a camera than a P990 without a flip!
we'll have to see where they go with the model numbers and letters.
Besides the M600 at a year old is due for replacement the P990 at just over six months isn't. IMO.

That is exactly what I was getting at. By calling this the P700 SE is acknowledging that it is a lesser phone than the P990. This begs the question of whether SE will release a successor to the P990. Apparently they are holding a number higher than 990, perhaps 1000, for the P990 successor. I don't think they believe that the consumer memory is so poor as to not remember the designation of their "flagship" phone. |

But the numbering would also mean that it's worse than the P900 and P800..... while the P700i will have everything the P990i has, in a smaller form factor and with a 3MP camera. |
