The iPhone uses the OSX core, not OSX, it's missleading from Apple to say it uses the full OSX system.
It's like saying that Windows Mobile is same as WinXP.
What in iPhones specs makes it sooooooooooooo good?
The 2mp camera?
The lack of flash?
The lack of led?
The 5h talk time?
The 15h "music only" time?
The lack of 3G?
The video recording?
The phone capabilities?
The iPhone lacks a lot of things many take for granted in phones today.
It's not like touchscreen is something new and revolutionary guys...
And also do not forget Neonode...
But, I won't talk crap about the interface though, it looks really good and the multi-tap looks great too.
Apple did really good with the software!
Also watch the Keynote, it's great.

I agree with what you say
the thing that bothers me the most would be the lack of removable batteries
the rest of the holes you mention, may be alright in the american market
but by the time it comes to asia in 2008, they'll be like fossils....
if SE/nokia/motorola/samsung get on with their projects to take down iPhone starting today, they'll be out at the same time with it in 2008
The iPhone looks great though, none the less
it is innovative, just not perfect
I might get one myself, but I might also be carrying a sofia at the same time |

from what you know xumdeo, does  have anything coming this year to compete with the iphone? Maria? (new w950)
not that im worried about the apple phone, i dont think its any thing to lose sleep over.....
id take n95 over it in aheart beat....even the maria if the 3.2mp cam ad wifi are true....

not in particular, apart from the design
they might as well get on with a new project now to do that
i suppose the team is having a roundtable at the headquaters now as we are speaking lol
they're not worried with the asian market, but the american market |

n81 was first rumoured to be announced with the n95. Supposedly has a 10gb HDD or flash memory, 3mp cam, WIFI, 3g, QVGA screen etc etc. I thought it might come in this next batch of n series announcements, but alas no.
Nokia has me disappointed atm, if SE came out with Maria in their Feb conference, they'd have my allegiance. |

Maria's probably going to come out at the end of the year. Similar to the time frame of the W950 I'd expect.
But announcements are not going to be far off
