That's what I've though from the start. They don't want it too similar to the K800, otherwise it would be stealing its thunder. The K650 I think will prove to be pretty popular if they release it soon, because the 6233's going to be pretty old soon.

Probably!

This might not be announced until next year as in an interview recently said they were planning no other major announcements for this quarter. I am expecting another slew of new handsets in the first 2 months of 2007.

I'd agree that this'll be announced later. Even 'chris' the guy who posted it, said (before the post was deleted) that the K650 was in its beta stage software wise.

But thing is, if it is released next year, it really won't be a competitor to the 6233 anymore, as that'll be old news.

Still, I count at least 6 or 7 mobiles for next year that we already know about. Nice

Jeez, you know more than I do. We only have one codename so far though don't we, isn't that Elena?

Which ones do we have so far? I didn't think it was as much as 7...

OK, I'm just into rumours I guess

Here's my count (quite optimistic):
1. Handycam or slider with a twist.
2. K800 successor. Already in the making. Eldar's confirmed it. Think that it's Elena
3. Moli Touch. Chocolate competitor.
4. 5. Elena and two other Russian code named phones.
7. mid range slider.
8. high end flip phone. 3.2 megapixel, and comfirmed by Eldar.
9. Cybershot K650. Recent one.
10. E530. No info.
11. 12. HSDPA phones. Confirmed by Telstra in Australia.
13. Slim SE phone. Confirmed by Mr Sakaguchi.

Wow, actually more than I though But that's all the reliable stuff. Very nice line up though.

hmm dunno if Elena will be the new k800i. It is said to have wi-fi, and i do doubt they will put that in the new k800. Eldar did say se are going to have a big year next year, we are expecting some nice goodies

And, in response to the post above about one new high end phone for this year, i dont think that will be any better than k800, its been told the k800 is the 'best' phone from se for the year. Though, we may see some announcement before the end of the year, which could include a possible high end phone for 1st quarter next year.

Atm, it doesnt look like we will get anything with any special features 1st quarter, it seems we are expecting the new cybershot for now and the new slider both in 1st quarter, nothing 'higher'

Wow! Quite an impressive piece of Intelligence Gathering you have

I think we have before our very eyes the whole 2007 line up

I don't think you've missed anything.

Isn't the K800i successor gonna be announced 07Q1 for release in the Summer?

Lets hope so...

@ads1107

Probably. I think will be concentrating on padding out its range of Cyber-shot and and that doesn't necessarily mean high-end phones. If it can get away with pushing out an Autofocus 2.0mp as Cyber-shot then it will. The 2.0mp lens will be a lot cheaper than the newer 3.2mp one. Plus it does take a decent snap so why not.

Thats a good point!

When will the Bravia screen from the SO903i make its appearance on these shores, with DVB-H bringing it to life.

It wouldn't make sense to have that marvellous screen restricted to the Japanese market. We like big screens here too though not necessarily large clamshells....

I would like that screen to appear in flip guise.

@goldenface, copied straight from thread below this :

this is taken from Mobile Review, statement made by Playdead:
http://forum2.mobile-review.com/showthread.php?t=55525

rss_ndrsn asks: "Is SE going to announce a phone similar to what they had announced lately (japanese phone)"

playdead:
"Yes But later and more advanced"

little extra from playdead in regards to announcement of this phone:

"chlettn, can't say much, cause I just don't know, announcement should be as usual before/in 3GSM in february/march

PS: remember SO902iS and k800? The latest is almost exact copy" (features-wise) of the japan model... "

Cool!

3GSM is the week commencing 12 Feb and goiing by past experience tends to announce a week or two before then - maybe 1st Feb.

The SO903i is pretty advanced though I would be surprised if some of its features find their way onto European phones such as fingerprint and facial recognition.

The video has zoom and image stabilisation so I could imagine that being implemented in the higher end Cyber-shot clam - Z8XX. Pure speculation I know but it helps to build up a picture

Btw, I was just thinking about the next phone.
... first there was the walkmain series, then a walkman phone with symbian/uiq. Then there is the sybershot phone, ... maybe next will be a cybershot-symbian/uiq3 phone
