I must say I really don't know. But a led is always a led so there shouldn't be a problem. I myself have been using it frequently sense September 2006 and it still works like a charm

Also, looking at the wast amount of downloads since released; with no complaints in any of the different forums linking to Torch. And the fact that using Torch is practically the same thing as taking pictures. I would say it's perfectly safe to use.

I downloaded this App on my 1st K800i, the dedicated shutter button stopped working as soon as the app was installed, then 2 months later the phone died. I've not re-installed this feature on any subsiquent K800i I've had. (3 of them)

i'm afraid it works on other phones,coz this app is written to light RED AF LED on k800...programing details are related to a certain software of k800.should be

@ukcuf
no not as bright as k750's or other ordinary leds,that's red and not that powerful(but better than lcd and keypad lights),remember it is just a led to help the phone autofocus in close distance under poor light conditions and is not produced to light up the whole room.

would the red led overheat, similar to how the xenon would overheat if used for extended periods of time?

that's what i was woring about,having red led damaged...posted here and people answered,then i don't think there would be a problem,it seems that it is just a led like many others.it completely differs from xenon structure,the charging diod would certainly overheat and break under unusual usage

Yes that's correct. Over and unusual use would cut short, the leds lifespan, not a good thing to replace... prematurely...
