You can do it without removing the back cover, just the front one

Yes, those need to be removed as they hold the front cover in place

I do not have access to a torx screwdriver, so any other way to remove them?

No, not really otherwise you will mess up the screw head. Cant you just buy a T6 from ebay, most people will ship worldwide if you ask?

find a blade screwdriver that is the width of the torx head inside star point to point (if you get my drift). I've used jewellers screwdrivers of the right size on torx heads before. Just be careful not to strip the head.

Yo umay be able to clean the phone joy with compressed air only - and therefore not need to dismantle. It's worth trying first but may not work if the crud is really compacted:

I just bought an air duster . brand--ednet (http://www.ednet-ag.com/produkte.html.en). the 4th picture on the website.
it gives out liquid gas when titled upside down. and air when held normally. i happened to ask one of the phone repairing shops abt this and he said that he did it n his phone went short.
but am takin the risk n tryin it tonight. will be tryin out on the k700 first then on a couple of k750s.
Hope ma phone dunn go dead.

I'm back. The experiment is a 100% success. i tried it 1st on my k700 and it is way better than b4 although there is a failure 5% of the times. but on the k750 which i did second. its has become as goood as new. it is awesome. the air duster actually can solve the problem. i have only spend 20AED on the spray. its was better than payin 150 AED to get the juystick replaced.
Thanks ESATO and all the ppl here!!!
Also i recommend anyone to try it. but pls be careful when removin the housin coz that was the most toughest part. i mean, u dunn wanna hurt anythin inside! |

great tutorial, but isn't it a bit elaborate?after all you shouldn't have to pull a phone apart and clean the joystick, should you?just buy a phone with a decent joystick instead perhaps!

If the joystick is the only flaw in an otherwise sterling phone, which can't be bested other than by it's own younger brother (K800), then I'll stick with my K750 thanks.
Joystick problems are a issue on just about every phone with a joystick. The answer is a d-pad, but many people including myself find d-pad's completely useless for gaming and many other functions we put our phones too and we consider a joystick is necessary.
Whenever SE try to take away the joystick, too many people complain and they put it back. No joystick in w810, but wohoo, hang on, what's in the K800? A joystick.
So the consumer wants joysticks, despite their weekness.
Besides, we enjoy fixing shit

you should have been very careful when spraying it onto the joystick. The spray can actually freeze anything if we hold it for say 15 seconds. I dunno what the hell is in that can but u need to be very careful. If u notice, the can or anything that u spray onto becomes very cold. and if u are in places that have humidity, water vapour will start to form which can be very dangerous to the phone. there has been absolutly no problems with any of the 5 phones i sprayed on. I have tried the K700 and W800 and 3 other K750. |
