im going away for 2 weeks this sunday to turkey and i want to put about a fiver on my phone. just to sent the odd text back home to the uk. orange is 50p a text and is my main network. o2 is 49p per text, i dunno if the 1p difference is worth me bringing 2 phones and going through more hassle. are there any other good deals going abroad? i have a sim card for all networks so wanted to know the best way

I know vodafone is 50p also. For the 1p, just take the one phone with you.

If you use virgin mobile then GPRS (Internet) access rate is the same anywhere in the world. If you set up an internet SMS account, e.g. mobisms or clickatel, you can use either WAP or one of their J2ME apps to send SMS.

I use mobisms. Costs are approx 1p per text from Virgin mobile + 2p from mobisms.

Hope this helps,

Cheers.

Sending a text back to the UK using a Virgin PAYG SIM is 35p per message. At least it was from Kos, Greece 2 weeks ago!

virgin is 30p to send a pic msg and 35 to send a txt.. wtf hahaha. is this right? http://www.virginmobile.com/m[....]payasyougo/tariff_coverage.jsp
edit: is it 60p one off to recieve a call or 60p per min. i know its something per min on orange

edit again: how much is exactly wap on virgin? that idea about mobisms seems cool "

WAP

Standard call rate from the region you're in

Fast WAP (GPRS)

0.5p per Kb (Cost varies according to the amount of pictures and text on a page e.g. A WAP page which is mostly text, will cost about 0.5p. Pages with images will cost more.)"
