damn!!!
until yesterday i thought it had a camera, until i read thru the forun today....
i have to say i am very much dissapointed that it has no camera, but i guess i cud do without a camera but not wi f- ! wi-fi is definately needed....it is a must! i love the loovks etc...but i think i wil have to go with the 990 unless we hear something about the m610 sometime by the end of the year..with wifi and a cam.
Also can someone tell me what UMTS is and if it is available in most countires?
Also a P990i VS. M600 review would be realllly helpful! if anyone can post the same or give me a link..... thanx!

UMTS == 3G
Also the point with this phone is the lack of camera, that is the whole point with this phone. It is targeting corporate users, and most of them can't have a phone with camera.
Many companies bought phones with camera and then had a other company remove the cameras from the phones before giving the phones the their workers. So the P-series was a problem for many companies.
have at las noticed this and put the M600 out. The M600 upgrade won't have a camera because that is the point with this phone, to be used in places where camera is not allowed.
Now u might say, it got USB2 and extended memory ... well that isn't usually a problem outside government buildings today, might be in the future but not today.
Edit:The lack of WiFi is not that great of a problem/loss by todays standards, unless you have access to lots of hotspots like I do, then you really want that feature :/

so does that mean if my service provider has support for 3g....it is basically the same thing as wi-fi?
except 3g is probably better because i can use it anywhere on the network rather if i wana use wi-fi i have to be at a wi-fi enable hot spot???
if this is what it means then who would need wi-fi as long as your service provider has the 3g option? am i right or have i got it all wrong????

well... one thing you might want to considder is the cost,
tranfering data over 3g can cost alot but wifi is free.
So optimally you would use 3g when outside and switch automatically to wifi when your phone finds a spot it has access to. imho |

In the argument about the lack of camera I can see why they might ommit it. In our company we have a couple of people visiting one of our clients for a few days. They are a well known pharmaceutical company and they explicitly ban any kind of camera equipment from the site, including mobile phones.
Suffice to say I had a hard time trying to get these two people phones without a camera.
Also the Siemens SK65 Blackberry phone doesn't have a camera and that is quite popular for Blackberry business users. I have to say this p*sses all over that phone though! |

does the E61 have touch screen??? Is the E61 the thinnest 3G phone in the market???
how´s the M600 a mistake???
same old blokia fanboy...

No, E61 doesnt have touch screen. It has a full keypad, and very handy joystick. More than enough for many many of us
No, E61 is not the thinnest 3G phone out there, but it is still thinner than the M600.
How? Read my post. By missing out today's de-facto connectivity options for a corporate / business phone, does make a mistake. But you likely dont care about that. I am a corporate user, use my E61 everyday (its a proto) and believe me WiFI is a must-have. But you likely dont get that, and thats fine.
Wait until releases an improved M600 with WiFi. The main reason why M600 doesnt have WiFi now is likely to avoid direct competition with P990 (Edit: which btw is delayed).

I personally wont be getting one. I think the exclusion of WIFI is a shame.

I'm an SE fan like many on this site, but have to admit that the absence of Wi-Fi on a phone like this, which is clearly aimed at a more business/exec niche market, will surely put many potential 'niche' buyers off. Or am I wrong? I'm always open to correction...knowledge is power, after all.
I would have thought that The Dark Side's E61 would have been some kind of benchmark for SE to aim at, feature-wise (incl. Wi-Fi) at least.
As has been stated already, even if not everyone in the corporate world will necessarily use Wi-Fi, the fact that this feature was omitted, which would have been a very useful OPTION and particularly for this market segment, is beyond me.
I don't get it, SE... |

this phone is outdated before it even started to be available! to many mistakes and lack of hi-tech support with unwanted new memory card, what are you doing SE ? It's not even HiSpeed USB 2.0 compatible !? Have you all forgoten what is the speed of USB2.0 compliant devices ? It's not 12mbs it is 480mbs! This device is USB1.1 compatible !
The only way to make this phone/device affordable is to sell it bellow 200€ price range!
