Hi all,

I recently lost my P800 (sadddddd), and I need a replacement. I mainly used my P800 for info keeping (a large contact list and notes, calendar, etc). I have a brand new Treo650 now and I am thinking if

1) sell it and buy a P910?
2) keep it a year or so until the P1000?

If I go with option 1), what would be the cost difference (los angeles area)?

And if I go with option 2), I have to buy a new memory card and that will cost me some $$. (I have a 128MB duo stick around and its large enough for me)

I should note that I never use Palm before and I will have to get used to the Palm hand writing method (but Treo650 has a nice keyboard). I am very familiar with P800 hand writing method.

any suggestion welcome.

I don't think the Treo650 even has any handwriting recognition. I have used them a bit and never figured out a way to input anything by writing on the screen. I am not a big fan of the Treo series.

It seems to be very popular here in the States, but in my opinion that is just because of the marketing and sales from phone companies. Its sorta like the iPod in that way, everyone thinks its great, but they have never tried any alternatives. Mention any alternatives and they don't want to try them because they have never heard of them, and think they are just imitation iPods or Treos.

Tough choice.

I have just got a p910i. My friend just bought a Treo 650. We paid the same on contract for them.

They both look nice. You can do similar things on both. We both bought satnav packages for similar prices.

I admire my friends Treo. He likes my p910i.

I hate the thumbboard on my p910i. His keyboard looks well neater, but I've never actually used it in anger.

The only problem my friend has had with the Treo is with the blutooth stack so far.

Briefly comparing the two, the Treo seems to be faster/snappier than the p910i.

Personally, I'd wait for the next p-series box.

thanks for the replies,

i am leaning toward keeping the treo, mainly cuz of the lower price of SD cards and that i have the phone with me already.

i will wait for the next P too. Unless the treo wows me so much that i would decide to wait for the next treo instead.

the treo 650 is a nice phone pda and the qwerty keyboard is easier to use. but if you're used to and happy with symbian OS get a P910. there a bargain at the moment... [addsig]

I agree with them being a bargain. There is currently someone selling a P910a in the marketplace for $400. So you can get your hands on a P910a for not so much money if you are inclined to pick one up.

I know how it is, once you have something you don't want to be bothered getting something else and then getting rid of what you already have. So the Treo is sounding pretty darn good to you at the moment. It is a good phone overall so give it a try if you want to save the energy of getting a P910.

Id say go for the P910 as well. I have 2 friends who have a treo 600 and 650 respectively. They both are on their 3rd phones cos of screen pixels dying or just plain something botches up. They thank god for the warranty. But they wouldnt switch cos they have been used to the treo setup. But each time they try the p910, having music, movies, games, email, all the other apps they are impressed.

The p910i i have has never let me down yet. And i have dropped it a couple of times. Guess on reliability. Id give the p9xx the nod. Or get a new one if it ever comes out.

thanks for all the replies...

however, you guys are making my decision even harder..
Oh well, its better to hear both sides and pick then just blindly pick..

I have choosen to stay with the treo 650 at hand for the following reasons:

1) I have it already (less work and time to replace it with a P910)

2) cost of a 1G SD memory card = cost of a 512 MB Duo pro. (i didn't really need anymore than 128 MB with my P800 but i can always put more songs into my smartphone now)

3) I know the P-serise and love it, but I should give another brand a try to compare. I planned all along to skip P900 and P910 until P1000, if I didn't lose my P800. Now I planto keep the treo until half a year after the release of P1000, just in case of a P1010 announcement that SE like to pull on us. (also P1000 should be cheaper then and well reviewed)

4) treo = better thumb control. (I missed simple candybar phone, i was planning to get the K750 until i have this treo)

Wish me luck and problem free with the treo
