i have 4 email accounts that i check w/ my x10. i download what i want. are you talking about keeping emails to work offline?
Heh I know it WORKS!
I ask about MEMORY. Apparently X10 doesn't allow install on sd card.
I would like to install email client and download some emails etc.
So everything will be stored on internal memory?
The question is how about internal memory after some time.
Do you have any problems with that? Or 400 MB is enough?
If am not mistaken, e-mails are not saved but you can search any e-mail through search and it works via data connection. So basically you searching the e-mails from the server itself and not from the internal memory. Please correct me if am wrong

Well, if it works this way, it's crap.
I want to use ProfiMail. Hopefully it can store things to memory card........
I'm still undecided about X10.
I noticed that after cleaning browsers memory it deleted all my bookmarks. CRAP.
And I HATE CAPACTIVE SCREENS. Really, selecting things in the browser is a nightmare. Disaster.

I also noticed that I can't go to the END of the quoted txt
when answering to posts here, in portrait when scrolling after a while it scrolls the whole page
I have to switch to landscape.
Lack of keyboard and any navikeys is a massacre

according to profimail website, it only downloads headers and will download the entire message once you've selected it. which is similar to how gmail and the native email client works. btw, which one are you using and are you at a phone store or using a friend's? I would assume once you do select a message to be downloaded it will download it to the cache on internal memory for quick retrieval. attachments are downloaded to the SD card. In the even you're checking (thereby downloading) an enormous amount of emails, i would assume there is a max cache that is allocated and oldest messages are purged for new ones instead of continually filling up the internal memory (that would be ridiculous). Then again, it's just text! and seriously, you've got plenty of memory for text emails and attachments (pics, sounds, etc) go to SD, so no worries there.
perhaps the x10 isn't for you if a hardware keyboard is that important. selecting text becomes easier once you get the hang of how the phone reacts to your finger. obviously everyone's finger is a little different so there is no perfect way, but it's something we learn with use.
and the quote thing... i don't know what you mean, but i'm guessing it's just an issue of getting used to a full finger touch interface.

ProfiMail on my current device works like this:
Downloads headers by default. Once I choose emails for download, they are downloaded to device
and I can store any attachement wherever I want.
So I can keep all my emails on device when I want...
So nothing is deleted from the device until I decide to do so,
the only limitation is device's memory. What is logical and expected.
As for quoting:
Nope, it looks like a browser problem.
I quote the long post, and to enter the text I select text field.
Device automatically navigates to the beginning.
Text is much longer than the visible part.
So I want to navigate to the end of it.
It starts to scroll the text but after a moment it starts to navigate the whole page instead.
The only way to do this is to put the device in landscape mode.
In portrait - no way.
P.S. I test my own unlocked unbranded X10 which I got from my carrier for 30 cents.
And still undecided.

@doministry - is there really any need to throw out insults? we're all trying to help you with the issues you seem to be having with the x10. i was under the impression you were considering the x10 as your upgrade and here you are with one in your hand the whole time. what exactly are you considering anyway? you have one. you spent a bit of change on it.
i can totally understand Hobbs's amusement.

I'm quite sure about this.
Let me explain you how my gmail on X10 works.
I don't open gmail on browser as my iMail does a great job for me.
When I receive an e-mail it actually goes to iMail and does not go to gmail account (that's the way I have set up)
So when my iMail is not open it goes to my gmail account. so when my iMail is shut, indirectly I receive an e-mail on my X10 as it goes to gmail and when my iMail is open, I don't get e-mails on my X10.
Another thing I want to add, when I receive any e-mails on my X10 and after that when I open iMail - all the e-mails are gone from X10 as it goes directly to iMail.
This might sound little confusing but it's very simple. iMail is my main e-mail client where I can get to see all the mails like inbox/sent/draft etc.
So when the mails get transferred to iMail that means that particular e-mail is not there on gmail.com/X10. So if I want to go through that e-mail again I simply use search on gmail application on X10 and then I can go through it! But the e-mails are not stored, they are stored in iMail.
I have been doing this from last 2 years now and got 5996 e-mails in Inbox (for me each and every e-mail is very important)
So please correct me if am wrong anywhere, cause I want to know more about storing e-mails on X10.
Also I cannot attach any document through gmail application on X10 - only photos/videos or music via mediascape which is kind of really sad on google's part.
