Of course Ericsson hasn't implemented this feature but you just need the right SW and then it's no problem.
Like you can update your phone at home or unlock it. But I think this is somethink that should be discussed here on esato because of interests of us to have the name of a serious discussion and support on the legal and accepted way.

I think that is more similar to T39(or vice-versa) than to T2x. What do we know about hedwig's fw? It's a tri-band phone so fw needs to interact somehow with transeiver. It has no games but great greyscale display(first in those times). No IR and BT. Are EMS, GPRS, HSCSD and Recorder present? Does it support accessories?

Some detailed informations to the hedvig firmware:
1) It consists of two parts - I am unable to read the second one yet.
It is located in the ARM flash chip. Hedvig uses Irene as the secondary CPU and unfortunately I have no docs on this chip. R520 uses Irma instead.
2) The AVR firmware is marked by this string:
"ERICSSON 1101101-BVT36m".
3) The GDFS occupies the same area as in prototype R520, i.e.
370000-3FFFFF.
4) The phone is a dualband 900MHz/1800MHz.
5) The TAC (520257) belongs to T20s, so it will be incorrectly attached by Fighter/Cruiser
as T20s.
6) ...
7) The Hedvig firmware works in R520 and probably it will work even
better in a T39.

As you can read in older hedvig comments: Yes it supports DBA-10 and headsets. Some hedvig should also support the MP3-Adapter, mine not!
Chatboard ... haven't tested because I can't find my CHA-10.
bluetorch and laserpointer are also supported

@Boba What do you think about I888w?
BTW why ericsson changed its naming convention for WORLD models, why not to simply write T28w, I888w, etc?

I like the colour of 888i, but the flip is a bit weird imo, way too big.

Yes you can!
But you need a cruiser USB-stick and SW.
I'm in contact with the guy who develops the cruiser & fighter SW and he has implemented hedvig support.
Therefor it would be possible to clone a hedvig and with one of the next versions of cruiser also IMEI-change should be possible.
But actually we are working on wakaba-support to revive the wakabas with evaluation-SW that were sold the last weeks on ebay. But it will take some time more, because wakaba can only be programmed by internal connector and the pin-layout is still a problem.

Thats good to hear, keep us updated with info on Hedvig s/w

It won't be too difficult.
We need three things:
The working wakaba from killspam. He has the only working one (except one that is still in UK).
and we need this tiny part:
At last we need the wakaba firmware from EMMA2 which should be the smallest problem.

Depends on the display you want to use!
For example my t68 sharkfin uses a display with 5 connectors and regular t68 uses 7 connectors for display. So it won't be possible to swap them.
Seems to be impossible to swap quite different displays because you need
changed firmware
changed connector
changed grafik-cpu
maybe some mor changed parts.
