Sorry for being so quiet, folks, been soaking up the sea and sun while i can.

I've also been following the MyADSL debate re:Gaza. Talk about getting personal! Those guys are up in each other's faces over difference of opinions.
I'm not superstitious, merely mildly stitious.

Check out the AAS article on the new formats for SD and M2 memory cards.

SDXC has been launched, the successor to SDHC.The 'XC' stands for 'eXtended Capacity' and allows cards of up to 2 Terabytes (that's roughly 2000 GB) and up to 104MB/s for read/write speeds.
Presumably 'micro' versions of SDXC will also appear at some point, for phone use.
Secondly, the M2 cards used by some Sony Ericsson UIQ 3 smartphones are set to be superceded by 'Memory Stick HG Micro', also promising up to 2TB and with 60MB/s transfer speeds.
2000GB's
F me sideways lol
Thats bloody insane.
It all seems like a nice idea but just the thought of something corrupting your card and having to format and replace all that stuff seems like a huge headache for me.
I've just recently had a prob with this 16GB card where I couldnt access any of my applications on my memory card and had to format almost 16GB of music, vids, pics ect ect and it was a huge pain in the ass.
2000GB's
I think not.
Yes once you got a 16GB card you just want a 32GB card because 16GB aint big enough anymore.
But terabytes.
Bloody insane if they can fit a TB on a memory card the size of your pinky finger.

Go to AAS to read the full story.

The oaks at MyADSL realy make me laugh, especialy during last year in the iPhone thread.
Ye, good luck to MOTO, I think if they had put 3G/HSDPA, optimized the software on their ZN5 they would have had a true K850/N82 killer, but anyway, thats just my opinion. Just seems like they could have put more effort in the ZN5,but its wasted potential, and so is the Z10.

Yah,that is insane hey, but it was coming sooner or later, some people actualy treat their smartphones like PCs lol.
Lol it was bad enough having to format the nearly full 2GB in my n81, so i can just imagine how much of a pain in the ass formating a whole 16GB would be, can you imagine having to back up a whole 2TB the transfer rate better be good lol.

@ Gucci:

Did you see what Man U star, Cristiano Ronaldo, did to his Ferrari 599 this morning?:

Fortunately the oke's OK and was able to resume training as normal. Don't know about his insurance company though, LOL.

@ Hobbster:

Care of GSMArena:

Nokia have finally set a date for the official release of the 5800 XpressMusic over in the UK. The first S60 touch-enabled phone will start selling through the Finnish company's flagship stores starting from 23 January at SIM-free price of little less than 280 euro (249 GBP).

The SIM-free handset will also be available through the Nokia UK online store.

Just a week later on 30 January, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic will also start selling through all the major UK carriers and mobile phone retailers.

The UK Nokia 5800 price tag means that Nokia have finally managed to deliver on the promise they made when they first announced the 5800 XpressMusic. The expected retail price of the handset at that time was 279 euro but the great hype that the device generated kept it much higher for the holiday shopping spree.

WOAH!
Unlucky Ronaldo, he must have been crying like a lil girl jus jokin.
Shame, atleast he's okay, if he didnt have such a big ego and the skills to back it up i would've felt sorry for him.
So will you now definetly get the 5800xm and take the leap in to the Darkside?
All
Watched the movie Clerks-2 last night, what a hilarious film, the part where they diss Lord of the Rings had me in stitches, if you havent seen it yet its definetly worth hiring from the vid store.

@ kyle:
Have you seen what Robbie Maddison's been up to lately?! :

Taken from MCN:

'Motorcycle jumping distance World Record holder Robbie Maddison saluted the end of 2008 and the start of 2009 with one of the most ridiculous jumps ever seen.

The 27-year old Australian freestyle motocross rider landed a 37-metre high jump on to the top of the replica Arc de Triomphe outside the Paris Las Vegas Casino on New Year’s Eve.

And not only did he hit the take-off ramp at over 55mph to land the stunt, he also dropped off the arch onto a landing ramp to get back down.

Maddison’s unbelievable performance came exactly twelve months after he took the distance record with a jump of 98-metres in Vegas at the Rio Casino, dedicating the jump to the late Evel Knievel.'

Yeah i watched it on espn the other night. Just before he did that this dude with a rally bucki thing tried a backflip. On the lip of the ramp there is this thing that hits the front wheels so it start the rotation, he had it perfect. But towards the end of the rotation the car started twistin. Wen he landed it bounced up and started rollin. He is ok. But dam. It was crazy, wen mado (robbi maddison) did that step up. It was insane. Thats like jumpin onto a 4 story buildin. Its was so so sick. Wen he jumped off. He gased it 2 much and landed quite far down. His hand basically blew up on impact. He pulled off his glove nd all u saw was blood. He said he definally had a broken hand. . That dude is so insane. Last years jump was also sick. Jumpin a football pitch is just stupid. Lol. I respect him 4 his ridin ability's. 1 rider u hve 2 look out 4 is david knight. This dude is insane. There is this enduro thing. Its the toughest race in the world. Like 200 riders start. But only 2 ppl finish. He finished an hour infront of 2nd place. The say the estimated time 2 finish it was 4 hours. But he did it in 2. That dude truely knw's how 2control a bike. Its just amazin
Lifes journey is not to arrive at the grave in a well preserved body, but to rather skid thru sideways shouting, HELL YEAH! THAT WAS A HELL OF A RIDE!

@ Gucci:
We'll see how things are in a month or so. I'd love to say 'yes', and buy one easily enough when they hit the shelves soon, but as we're planning to fly to SA again this year, to avoid the imminent high costs of flying to SA in 2010 and paying 'soccer world cup' prices for plane tickets and accommodation etc, I have to be a little more patient.

I can't even book the plane tickets just yet, as my sister-in-law is planning to get married in July, before we fly, but is yet to set a date.

2 return plane tickets is probably going to take R15000 (at least) of our savings, so we'll first see what the proper total is. Car hire is going to be another 4 grand or so for the month (for a baseline 1.4 Golf or Tazz), then there's money needed for going out, petrol, doing stuff etc etc...

I've no hesitation going back to the Dark Side again. I still like and of course UIQ, but I'll be a very happy camper with such a S60 touchscreen device.

I've also spent a fair bit recently on my other interests lately too, ie. stuff for the bikes and a 32cc 4-stroke engine for a massive 2M-wingspan RC plane that I'm designing and building...

All that remains now is to see if I can discipline myself to wait another month, and see if the 5800 really is that reasonably priced...

Thanks for that info. Interesting stuff. I was keen to see if Alfie Cox was gonna give the (South American) 'Dakar' a go, but perhaps age etc has finally caught up to the ol' veteran...?
